OK so long story short my computer seems to be in the process of dying

Now, I was wondering if there was a way to transfer programs such a word and Norton (stuff I have to pay for) to my external hard drive and them move them from my external hard driveto my new computer?

So i want to move software from My Old Computer>>to>>My External Hard Drive>>to>>My New Computer.

Is this possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You could put the old HDD into the new computer (if it is a desktop) and continue to use it, or simply copy them over to the other HDD I assume.

Nortan is account based... So you just go to their site. Word is Windows bound... I don't know much about it other then if you get it for vista you have to buy it again for 7. You may have to buy it again. As long as your using the same windows that its registered on... You should be able to still use it with out buying it.

Do you have the installation media, or at the least a product key for Microsoft Word (or Office if it's in that package)?

For Word just use OpenOffice, it's free and compatible with MS Office.

For anti-virus use Microsoft Security Essentials, it's better than Norton and free.

Best of luck mate
