I'm looking for a laptop for college. I'm looking for anything that costs between $400-$800 with at least 160gb harddrive and 2gb RAM and at least 1.80GHz. Something not too heavy, less than 6lb preferably. This laptop WILL NOT BE USED FOR GAMING.

So does anyone have any suggestions for a laptop? I'm not much of a computer person so don't go crazy with the specs and stuff. I'd like to get something from Circuit City, links or names will do. Thanks.

Try for a dell, as they let you customize the laptop to your liking

Weighing in at 6.14 pounds, the HP Pavilion dv6700t series. 2 gigs of ram, 250 gigs of hard drive space, 1.83 gHz, and an OS recovery DVD will run you $798.99.

'Course, if you want something cheaper, learn to do your own homework.

I bought this a few weeks ago to use as my Vista/Ubuntu Dual-boot:

Toshiba Fusion M305

...of course it was on sale for $200 less than what it is going for now, for some reason. Newegg has a variant with about the same specs, the S4815 versus the S4819 at Circuit City.

It may be worth taking a look at the Dell Refurbished section, or keep your eyes on Circuit City for the next sale on this or a similarly configured model.

Additionally, I found these available at newegg, using your max price as the search criteria. I did not have time to sort and determine if these were necessarily the BEST deals available, but there are rigs out there that meet most of your reqs beneath your price cap:

HP dv6830us

Toshiba Satellite A205

...weights are not below 6, but are right around 6lbs.

I got a really good deal at circuit city better than these links like 8 months ago. Just go there and look around.

6 ib = how many kg?

dell have some pretty good lappies and unless you want it to game pretty much every one has 2gb ram and 160gb hdd. if you want a light laptop get one with 13"-15" screen. 17" models will be heavy
