Hey guys, Looking for some more free roaming and/or choice based type rpg's for me to play. Some examples of the type of games I'm looking for are: Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, and so forth. My Specs are not an Issue, they will exceed any game for at least another year, But this doesn't mean that I want to exclude "older games" but lets be reasonable with being roughly no older than 10 to 12 years release dates =P Any Suggestions are welcome, Thanks in advance. EDIT: My gf enjoys games with romance between characters (Probably why she enjoyed playing mass effect at all) If you have any suggestions towards games with romance she would appreciate it, Thanks =)

NWN2 + MotB or Baldurs Gate 2 if you want to stretch it.

Of course there is also the Witcher:EE & KOTOR.

They're not exactly open world though, but the games are still rich & lengthy

I would get Risen before The Witcher (could not get into it at all--lame combat and artificial relationships). Risen has some faults--especially in the latter half (dungeon after dungeon)--but it's worth a playthrough.

Wow I had completely forgotten about The Witcher, Played it and was a good play through =) I'll be taking a close look at never winter nights 2 with MotB. Played Kotor and Baldurs gate, Kotor was fun didn't get into baldurs that much though... Thanks for the recommendations =)

Hmm, if you have no issues with older games, how about the first 2 Fallout games?

Quite fun, if a bit dated in terms of interface and so on.

Oblivion (mods are a must) if you haven't played it. I found it better than Risen and Gothic 3 due to the mods. If you install Quarl's Texture Pack I would say it looks better than those two as well. Also, don't forget to install Francessco's and MMM overhaul mods that adds monsters and static levels to them. www.tesnexus.com has over 10,000 mods to choose from.

I'd say avoid this one like the plague. Bland, boring, and ultimately pointless, even with mods. Nice geography, but that's the only thing going for it.

Many of the best ones have been listed (like the Gothic series, Arcanum, etc.), so I'll recommend a few 'different' ones.

You might want to check out Mount and Blade, King's Bounty, Divine Divinity and the Sacred games.

I completely disagree, and would call it one of the best games in the thread (and easily one of the best free-roaming games ever), but to each their own.
