I tried bumping my other thread a bit, but didn't get much help. I have my 680i mobo with my 8800gtx connected into it, but I don't know how to connect the power to it. I have a 620w corsair psu too with it. Should I skip the 4 prong "pwr3" connector that is on the mobo for the graphics card and just use one of my 6pin pci-e cords to go straight from my power supply to the graphics card? Also, does it need to be plugged in from both sets of 6pin pci-e connectors? Or does it only need one.

I also have an x-fixtreme gamer soundcard and was wondering if I plan to use the front audio port with it do I connect the cable marked speakers from the case, to the top of the soundcard which has 4 pins?

It needs both power plugs hooked up. The 4-pin molex plug on the motherboard is for power to go in not out. I forget the exact use of the molex plug, but it is not needed in this situation. According to newegg that power supply comes with 2 modular pci-e plugs. Just hook them BOTH up to your PSU and then to you 8800 and you will be all set.

Also, on the thermaltake case, the one big fan at the back middle of the case has a 3 pin plug that is supposed to connect to the mobo, can you happen to tell me where the 3 pins are on the mobo that I need to connect the fan connector to?

If you read the manual that comes with it, it will not only tell you but have numerous diagrams showing you where all the fan headers are....

If you read your instruction manual you will see that the molex connector on the motherboard is to be used when you are using SLI

Sorry, I did read the manual but when I looked at it on the quick install it said "sli power" and in the regular manual it just said power for the gpu. One last noob question, I swear. Where is the general area for the speakers port (chassis speakers) on the 680i mobo. I looked around but didn't see anything labeled speakers on the mobo.

The molex power connector on the motherboard is there to supply additional power if you're using an SLi of two cards that normally do not need an additional power lead. While it is not necessary, I plugged in mine anyway, using the lead from the fan on my heatsink as a pass-through. As far as the PCI-e connectors on the video card, those must be connected and used, as they are what primarily feeds power to the 8800. With some cards, you won't be able to boot at all until you have all of the leads on the card plugged in. With others, if you leave only one, it will only function in 2d mode, and summarily be unstable and crash when running in 3D mode.

Just one last question (finally have it all set up) but I was wondering, how do I tell which version of the bios I have? I am assuming I don't have the latest up to date one and need to dl it off the site. Also, how important is it to have the latest most up to date bios for my mobo? I am not too sure, and know I can mess up my mobo by like not flashing it right and all of that. That's why I am a bit worried about updating it to the newest version (if I have to).

Go here and select Mainboards > BIOS update > NF68-INTEL Then follow the directions. I still don't know where to find out what BIOS I have other than at the post screen, if you are fast enough you can see it. Cpu-z reads a different BIOS from the one shown during post. I can't find anywhere in the BIOS that tells you what BIOS version you have.

FLOPPY (Floppy Disk and Disk Drive Required) Download the following executable: NF68_P25.exe Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable Restart machine, and set floppy as the primary boot device After flash, power off PC completely, on reboot load defaults in BIOS Those are the instructions on the site, but I just have some extra noob questions. I am assuming you put the .exe on the blank floppy drive, then run it. Also, I am not sure how I would set it for the floppy drive to be the primary boot device. I am guessing I would set the floppy drive to the primary boot device before restarting the computer? Then what does it mean by load defaults in bios after reboot? Does that mean re-set all the settings again that I did on the other bios?

"I am assuming you put the .exe on the blank floppy drive, then run it."- Have a formated floppy in the drive, then run the .exe and it will put it on the floppy for you.

"I am not sure how I would set it for the floppy drive to be the primary boot device"- In BIOS I think under advanced BIOS features, ther will be First, second, and third boot device. Change the first device to removable.

"Then what does it mean by load defaults in bios after reboot"- On the first page of the BIOS on the right column, there is a Load Defaults section, chose that, and hit enter (I think)

I am going to go into my BIOS now to make sure I did not lead you on a wild goose chase, it is hard to remember the BIOS LOL

Ok, so then I restart, then change the stuff in bios so floppy is the first boot device(or do I change it before, then restart again). Then how do I start the flash process? Does it just automatically do it once I select floppy as the boot device.

Once you choose removable (floppy) as you first boot device, just restart with the floppy (the one that you put the new BIOS on) in the drive, the flash process will start it self and tell you when it is done. Then just restart your computer again, and you should be done.

Ok, and I am sorry to report one last set of noob questions. I had to change some features such as the fan headers controlling the fans, and ram timings/ voltage to make them like they should be. Will updating the bios mean I need to redo all of those? Or will the settings stay the same? Also I am assuming once it finishes I should change the primary boot device back to hard drive or auto?

Did you save you configuration in the BIOS. If so just load your configuration, after you load defaults. If not save your configuration (is is in the same section as where you choose between configuring the FSB and ram timings).

After I changed everything I hit the f10 button but am not sure if I saved it specifically to a profile or anything. If it didn't save it right, do I just go into those configuration thing and just like find somewhere where it'll say "save configuration" then press enter? Or would it be a bit more complex then that.

"it'll say "save configuration" then press enter" That is almost exactly what it says. You can save upto 3 different configurations, I use it alot with the current problem I am having.
