Hi I am new to building the whole computer thing and would like help on making one I would prefer it as a gaming computer and would like to know what parts i need in order to build one. I would not need a monitor or graphics card since I already purchased a ati 4870. What other parts would i need and where can i get them.
Nick...you should do some research on the internet first. This is a very BIG question, and you need to make some basic decisions first. here are questions to ask.
Intel vs. AMD?
Dual or Quad Core?
65nm Technology or 45nm Tech.?
RAM Speed?
Single graphics card vs. SLi (or Crossfire)?
My suggestion, go to newegg.com and start looking at Motherboards, read about them. Whatever you don't understand do a google search on then read about it. Once you've got motherboards and other components somewhat figured out then come back and ask questions.

A P43 or P45 motherboard if you don't plan on having a 2nd video card, otherwise an X38 or X48. Asus or Gigabyte brands preferrably.
