Need help on how to safely remove spyware.

Hey everyone, I need help on how to safely remove spyware from my computer. With so many programs out there I do not know what to trust, this is what happens

It continously says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Also three icons always keep appearing on my desktop even when I uninstalled them ( I never installed them in the first place.)

Help is appreciated because I've noticed my computer has slowed down a lot also.

If you keep seeing the same programs being installed on your computer, you're in trouble.

The programs Spartan suggested may be able to get them, but usually when it's that bad you're not going to have any choice, but to back up the data you really need and do a fresh install. Same thing happened to me a couple years ago, and nothing I did could stop the flood of malware.

Thanks for the responsed but how do I re-install windows? (Sorry I am new to this stuff.)

I just want to delete everything than re-install windows just like it was the first time I turned it on, I insert my windows disk (The shiny one that says Service Pack 1 right?) And try to install but all it says is upgrading or something like that, and when I restarted my computer and it says, "Boot from CD press any key..." Nothing happens.
