No it wasn't that, the game I'm thinking of was also first person (forgot to mention that). Thanks for the reply though.Fable? and no I don't mean the newer one.. there was one called fable back then as well..

No, not that either. I remember it being first person. I can kind of remember a puzzle where there was some kind of special jewel or something on a chimney and you had to get a bird to retrieve it for you or something like that...if that helps any XD
Thanks for the help though.
The year was 1995, the Senate had just expressed their support for the Dalai Llama, Windows 95 had been available for purchase for about 2mths, and games ran on DOS. A company named "Legend Entertainment" had been given a contract to develop a series of Terry Brooks' books into a game, and the game of which I think you speak had been born. Behold! Your game is "Shannara".
As it is now 14yrs on - and some 5 years since the company closed down - it's no surprise that the game is now available for free download. You can find it on most of those websites that archive old DOS games.
If "Shannara" is not the game of which you speak, then frankly I have no idea.

THAT'S IT!!! Thank you so much! I just looked it up and the screen caps brought all the memories back lol. I'm definately going to dl it now and play through it again. I can't thank you enough! I'm guessing you played it before?
Yeah I played it aaages ago. Was a fan of the books :)
Thought I'd post even if I wasn't right, I know all to well the pain of trying to find lost DOS games. I spent years trying to find a copy of "Keeping Up With the Joneses", which I played when I was like 9 yrs old... only to find that not too long after my family bought the game Sierra was forced to change the title to "Jones in the Fast Lane" due to some copyright violation or something. Sadly when I finally found the game it wasn't as awesome as I remembered it, though the late 80s/early 90s fashion was still worth a laff :)
I have two favourite DOS games, which to date still manage to amuse me:
- Sam N Max: Hit the Road
- Freddy Farkus: Frontier Pharmacist
