I'm about to buy a 22" here in australia as a second monitor - I'm probably going to buy a philips for about $250. But they're all about the same price and quality - LG, Samsung, BenQ, etc.

If you want to use it for graphic design, pay extra and get a good one (like $800) that has even and accurate colour, but for games and movies I think you'll be right. The LG's have a lot of supposed settings you can change to get optimum playback for movies and games that are only designed for 4:3

My last BenQ died after a few years and I saw a BenQ for slae on ebay that had died. My BenQ also didn't have even colours ie darker at the top of the screen than at the bottom.BenQ is probably no worse than other cheap monitors though. And probably no worse than the Philips I'm about to buy.

Why am I buying a Philips, because my first DVD player was a Philips and it still works perfectly and still have it whereas most brands I buy are dead and buried.
