Hello there. I'm in the process of building new gaming PC and need some help with it. First and foremost, I must tell you that I'm a complete noob, who just wants to play his games. Mainly will be playing StarCraft II which I assume won't need that much power. But I've got BioShock 2, Dead Space and Left 4 Dead 2 waiting on the line as well. Anyway, don't be afraid as I won't build it myself, but I want to atleast pick up the parts and know a thing or two before consulting professional. Here's what I've thought so far.
1) Judging by some videos in youtube, 1 ATi Radeon HD 5830 will do the job fine. But doh, why are there so many versions? Its really hard to understand why 1 5830 is so much cheaper than other, and I even saw one 5850 with almost the same price as 5830. Is this logical?
ATi HD5850, 1GB PowerColor PCI-E, DDR5, 256bit, HDMI, 2xDVI (HDCP), DisplayPort
ATi 5830, 1GB, Asus EAH5830 DirectCU/2DIS/1GD5, PCI-E, DDR5, 256bit, HDMI, DVI (HDCP), DisplayPort
Those are the 2 nearly same price cards I was talking about.
2) Is it worth getting more than 6GB RAM? Will this somehow change the gaming experience? I was left with the feeling that I need more RAM if I have background process running all the time while playing. Which I don't have. So is it worth it, or is the RAM more important than that?
3) CPU Xeon quad-core 2.53 GHz - fine choice considering the things above?
4) I'm looking for some fancy case but not too expensive.
Any help appreciated.
