need help with diablo 2

ok so i just beat the first diablo and i installed diablo 2 i start it but the screen just goes black and my computer freezes also my disk drive with the diablo 2 disk makes a scratching type sound when i start it but it dosent get scratched

any help?

I really doubt that he can't play it because he doesn't have the computer hardware for it. As long as the computer was built after 1998 or so, he shouldn't have any problem running it.

It obviously has to do with the scratching sound you're hearing. Are you having trouble using any other CDs with that drive? Or is it just the Diablo2 disc thats doing this? Also, you'd just better hope that its not your hard-drive that the scratching sounds are comming from.

Diablo 2 has an autorun, so if you aren't seeing a menu pop up when you put the disc in, it means your drive can't read it. Either your copy of D2 is scratched or your drive is a junker (don't feel bad if that's the case, ALL optical drives crap out or have disc read errors from time to time, and a new one only costs like $25).
