Going to build my own since I've looked around and pre-builts are a rip off. Was wondering how difficult it is to build your own, and if these parts look ok (is there anything I should put more money in or anything I can skimp out on?). My budget is around 1000 so thats why I picked what I did for the most part.

CASE - I like the look of it (simple and not tacky) and its relatively cheap. Some of the reviews made it sound not bad so I went with it.

MOBO - going to be honest, This is probably what I know least about. Is there a better mobo i could get for my money that would support the rest of my hardware?

Hard Drive - Don't need one with lots of space, I have over 700gigs of space on two external

RAM - Seems good and came with a discount when u purchase this and 9600 together

looks good, I have that case, and love it. I dont know a ton about intel processors and mobo's so ill let someone else answer that. Only thing I see that isnt on there is an OS, and the optional soundcard. If this is your first build I do recommend watching some video's, and doing your research.

Great choices. That's a great case, but you could save $50 and get something much less flashier with less cooling and be just fine, like a Cooler Master Centurion 5. If you plan to OC though, I'd stick with the 900.

I assume you're going to be using 64-bit Vista with that 4GB of RAM?

For the mobo, look at Asus and Gigabyte for good quality.

Woops... forgot to post the MOBO... this is the one I was thinking about:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128083

I'll check out that case as I probably wont be OCing. I have a friend that is going to help me build it who has built his own before so I think i should be ok.. And as for the ram, i picked the 4gigs because in combo w/ the 9600GT (theres a discount) it actually comes out cheaper than the 2gigs I had picked. I'll be using some form of vista.

Good choice there too. Just to make sure, if you don't use the 64-bit version of Vista, you're not going to be able to use all 4GB of that RAM. 32-bit OS's only recognize around 3GB. And at that point you'd be better off using 2GB in dual channel insteal of 3 sticks.

The 64-bit version is the same price I believe. As far as which version to pick (Basic, Premium, etc) I'm not too sure. I'm still entrenched in XP and don't know the differences with Vista. Someone else here will surely know.
