I wrote down notes from the some guides, and it says to make the System Memory Multiplier equal to or less than the rated speed of your RAM. My ram is 1066, so I try to set it to a number closest to that?

So if I have my CPU at 2.5ghz now, which is 200 FSB, I would set the SSM to 4.00A so (200FSB X 4.00 = 800) and 800 is the closest I can get to 1066?

I have a Gigabyte mobo and E5200 cpu if that helps.

Equal to or less than sounds pretty succinct to me. There are many articles on various wikis explaining multipliers

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166&cm_re=g_skill-_-20-231-166-_-Product That is the RAM I have. I'm not sure what MHZ it is supposed to run at? It says 8500 does that mean 8500mhz? CPU-Z always reports that it is running at 400mhz, even after setting the SSM to 4.00 AA so that is shows 800 underneath. Just trying to make sure I know what I'm doing.

I just remembered something, I THINK I read somewhere that if it says 800 it really means half of that, so 800 means that the RAM will run at 400mhz, is this right? Or is this ram actually supposed to be 1066MHZ? CPU-Z reads 400mhz so I don't know.

That RAM is not on the QVL. Whats the auto setting have it set at? Some boards have problems with setting the correct voltage for certain sticks. You may need to modify the voltage.
