sorry about the double post, but my question is iam buying a video card that is SLI ready. i have a motherboard that only has 1 PCI 16x slot not 2 for SLI. if the card is SLI, do i have to have a SLI motherboard to use it. i just want one card but its SLI. thx again. long story short, can u run one SLI card on a non SLI motherboard but i have a 16x slot. :)
i dont know, but my 7900 SLI-enabled card states it need another SLI-enabled card in order to use SLI. does this answer your question? it might be able to run it on a non-SLI motherboard, but mine says i need two cards. i think it varies.
I'm pretty sure you can use only one card. A lot of video cards are sli ready but that does not mean you have to get two of them. My card is sli ready and I only have one PCI-E slot available and I runs fine.Â
