Well I have a budget of around $800, give or take a few hundred, and I want to build myself a new computer. The main things I'll be using this computer for are -games (i'm going to be playing Aion so I want the comp to be able to run it like a dream) -watching videos at 1080p resolution (or in the future, something higher) -video encoding (I encode and translate anime for a few fansubbing groups) I am planning on purchasing an i7-920 for the CPU. I am planning to purchase Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported for my video card BUT if there are cheaper video cards that perform just as well or maybe two video cards that, when crossfired, perform just as well if not better for about the same price. I am completely lost though when it comes to what type of motherboard, power supply, HDD and wi-fi card though. Please help me out, thanks. I'm planning to try and find these on newegg's combo deals

You're not one of those people that adds the speeds of all the cores together and thinks that their CPU runs super fast, are you? A quad core CPU has 4 cores, the all operate at the same speed, but you don't add their speed together. IE: Phenom II x4 940 Stock speed is 3.0GHz. Each core runs at 3.0GHz, the total speed of your CPU is 3.0GHz (you do not add the 4 core speeds together and come up with 12GHz).

DDR3 is only faster in some cases and not by much. DDR2 has lower latencies which means that DDR2 is faster than high latency DDR3 RAM. Also, DDR2 RAM for example is available in 8GB for $122 and DDR3 RAM at the same price is only 6GB so in other words you get more RAM for your money when choosing DDR2. Also the Core i7 motherboards only support DDR3 RAM and there are AM3 motherboards that support DDR3 and there are also ones that support DDR2.
