Hi there! I am looking at upgrading my PC in an effort to mainly run FF14 http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/product/ (Recommended/ minimum specs here). I haven't thought about upgrading my PC in a while since i haven't played much of anything new until dark souls and noticed a lot of lag while the opening cut scene was playing lol. So the issue is i am pretty out of the loop in terms of what is good these days, as i haven't been keeping up in a while.

I don't want to spend tooooo much so i was thinking if possible i would keep some of my old parts (although this is an old PC so it is probably just grasping for straws)

But anyway, what i am currently running with is a hp pc bought from futureshop the specs are:
CPU: AMD athlon ll X3 425
RAM: 8gb DDR3 (thinking i can keep this)
GPU: Radeon HD 4650
MOBO: honestly not too sure about this, but according to CPU-Z It's a Foxconn ALOE 1.01
Power supply: i think is either 350 or 500 watt

So what i am HOPING i don't need are MOBO (thinking i will need to though) case, ram, CPU(Same as MOBO), HDD, optical drive, KB/M, or monitor
Also was looking at spening like 250-500 assuming i don't have to upgrade things listed

Thanks in advance!

Well I dont know much about HPs, but maybe get a hd 7750 ($95) and phenom x4 965 ($110), or maybe upgrade that PSU to something better probably around $60 and get something like a hd 7770 for $105.

Pointless cpu upgrade

Well thats the best his mobo will support so I guess the only upgrade could be a 7750m because if he upgraded his mobo he might as well build a new pc. His CPU along with a hd 7750 should be able to handle FFXIV pretty well. I would highly recommend saving for a new PC.

I think the recommended spec it said 7950 or higher for 1080p ( the link i posted didn't go directly to there) So think the 78xx series should be good if i play at 720p? And i posted a budget of 250-500 if i only need to do limited upgrading opposed to a big overall.

id upgrade the motherboard, and cpu to an am3+ board with a phenom fx-4300, next id get an hd 7870Ghz edition that would be sufficient probably for medium - high or so @ 720p
