I know this is a question that basically relies on how much money I'm spending, what the size of the room is, etc. But I can tell you that I'm not lookin to spend over $200 if it's possible and the room I'm working with is relatively small, it is the size of a bedroom, but it's not tiny either. I don't have an exact footage off-hand, I can find it if it's absolutely necessary.

I've been using a 2 speaker & subwoofer audio system that I got with one of my desktop computers a long time ago. It's been good so far, but I want something better because quite often there is crackling with the speakers if there is an explosion-type of noise during the game, or sometimes the crowd noise during sports games will cause the speakers to crackle a little bit if I have it up too loud.

So if anyone could possibly point me in the right direction or give me any tips I'd really appreciate it. I don't just want to go to Best Buy and start asking them questions because I think they'll probably try to get me to buy the most expensive speakers/system.

If bass extension is a priority, the Klipsch Promedia 2.1s are a good recommendation.

If you are more concerned with audio fidelity, NVIDIATI typically recommends a set of Swan PC Speakers. The Audioengine 2 or M-Audio Av-40 are well-rated alternatives, as well.

Good luck,

Boz

^indeed, swans definetly have better mids and highs, but the pro media are still pretty good, especially if you consider the money. I got the swan m50w, and if you went up to around 300 i would have recomended them in a second.
