Some of you may remember that some time ago I made a topic asking if my PC could run Vampire:The Masquerade Bloodlines.

Well, I purchased a new video lcard which is much better and should run the game, but I'm having trouble wit the startup screen. Basically, it doesn't work, and because of that I can't play. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Have you downloaded all the community patches? They help a LOT.

I'm sure you can do better than that. :) How about the actual error message and your system specs. Did you buy the box or download it off Steam? Which patch(es) do you have on it?

1. I have installed the v1.2 patch 2. I bought the box 3. I don't know all my specs, but they do fit the minimum requirements

Does the game start, then show a black screen but you can hear the sound from the game?

It starts, but it goes directly to the game menu, not the startup screen like it should. When I press new game the loading bar goes halfway then it crashes with no error message or anything.

Have you downloaded and installed all the latest drivers for all your hardware, especially the video and sound cards?

I think 1.2 is the official path. You should really get the latest unofficial ones. I think they are up to like 2.8.

Activision tech support suggests changing your desktop resolution to 800x660 32bit before launching the game if you are crashing at the load screen.

Found this thread that seems to back that up as a possible solution.

Actually it's up to 5.3.

Okay, thanks for the advice, I'll try and see what makes it work.

So far, it still doesn't work, the problem I get has something with the demoshield launcher in the CD, though the only message that I get is that it crashed and if I want to send an error report.

Now it either freezes up on me, or crashes without any error message, sometimes it says something about mesh not locking up or something (this has only happened twice and I didn't write down what the message said), and once it went to the character creation screen, but when I finished making my character the loading bar appeared and the game crashed again.
