Hey guys, Thanks for your help beforehand. I have a Compaq Preario SR2013WM with 2 GB of RAM a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 and 2.4Ghz Processor. My goal is to upgrade it to at least a 3.0GHz processor. The thing is, I have no idea what I'm doing with computers but am very handy so I can install it myself if I knew how to do it. Could you guys give me some links of places where I could buy processors for my PC? Thank you guys soo soo much.
Fastest CPU supported by your motherboard is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103219 2.6GHz Dual-Core as opposed to 2.4GHz Single-Core. It doesn't include a heatsink or fan though, and i'm not sure if your current heatsink or fan fit since i'm not as familiar with AMD processors as opposed to Intel. Maybe someone else could answer that. I guess it's up to you whether the $53 is worth it or not. Your RAM is 2GB DDR2, 4200 speed. Your board also supports 5300 speed memory which is faster, and it can take up to 4GB. Two packages of these would work good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146526 Or only one package and keep the old RAM in with the new ones, but the new RAM would run at the lower speed of the old RAM. At this point you might just be better off building a whole new computer, though.
