Need some good 2D action game recommendation

I love 2D game and I love to play them a lot. Recently I play Shank , Shank 2 and mark of the ninja. Each of those game was awesome in there own way. I need some more recommendation. By the way I like to play Hack and Slash 2D game so please don't recommend any other kind of game. ( some of freind once was recommend me LIMBO, that game was really cool and awesome but not my cup of tea). So any recommendation and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to all for reply. I played Hotline Miami and after playing it for two hour I understand that either I am going to loose the "R"button from my keyboard or I am going to crash my monitor. I don't know its may be a good game but it was insanely difficult for me. I need some 2D game which are easy to play like shank or mark of ninja which or metal slug.

Check out Bionic Commando Rearmed if you haven't. It's not hack and slash but it might be to your liking.

edit: Oh, and I just stumbled upon this ...khm... interesting game today. It's 2D hack and slash called "Age Of Barbarian". This reviewer thinks it's good: youtube review.

Waking Mars is a game that will typically fly under the radar; I mean: how good can an IOS port to PC really be? Well... in this case, really good! You should try it out. (EDIT: Sorry, not hack and slash... my bad)

Uhm... Maybe Trine and/or Trine II?

Thanks to all, I hit the goldmine today. One of my friend give me winkawks emulator with 141 roms and most of the game are hack and slash, shoot them up or beat them up kind of game. So I think I should get busy now and one more thing to add, they all support my controller. :D

I'd recommend Dust an enysial tale, extremely good pc port and awesome combat, tho its kind of easy so you should play on max difficulty and it has animals as characters, that might turn you off, you should give it a try tho, it is very good. also guacamelee is fucking awesome.

Best game ever as i can recommend you 2D sidescrolling action rpg - Castlevania Symphony of The Night. its made in 1997 but for sure there is no better 2d game for me at least. As Gamespot 7 years ago stated. It can easly be played today (2007).
