Ok heres the deal. I'm looking into getting my first gaming rig. So say I'm gonna spend 4,000 and I'm not interested in getting parts and putting it together myself. And if I go to say Cyberpower the only thing I would think to do is pick the highest priced stuff. So If any of you know a better combo I'll most likely go with an Alienware Area 51 ALX. I so dont know what I'm doing.:|

Ok, if I was gonna go the part rout and build it myself. How hard is it to do? And in the 4,000 range what would you suggest?

i like this one:

http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gamer_Mage_D345

i modified it for some better fixings it costs about 2.3k and will be more than ready for next year and probably the year after aswell with lots of room for growth. if you really wanted to you could go full tilt and grab a second 5970 and a 6 core but i believe that to be unecissary. it comes with a good mouse + keys and a 27" 1080p monitor windows 7 home premium 64-bit and 2 free games (stalker CoP and battleforge). its got no wireless adapter but it wouldnt be any trouble to spend 29 bucks mroe and get a linksys one slammed in there.

i personnaly like ibuypower over cyberpower as cyberpower are overpriced and dont offer any free stuff with their systems. this system has watercooling for the cpu and even comes with some red LED lights(to match the case), and a pro wiring and packaging job. and a card reader if you should ever have a use for it. and will play blu-ray.

this for $2322

really there isnt any reason tos pend 4000 on a pc.. personnaly anything over 2500-2750 on a pc is reach to the point where you arent buying useful parts anymore your finding ways of burning the rest of your budget off :P

I'll have to look into the ibuypower site. Like I said I'm clueless when it comes to this but I'm trying to do as much research as possible.

Both ibuypower and Cyberpower are good places to look for a good gaming rig, and since you don't seem to mind the price of it to much you can put in lots of fancy things like getting LED lights on your case, as well as top of the line hardware and so on and so forth. Alienware are generally extremely overpriced, but once again since your looking for something around the $4000 range, Alienware is a possibility. Building your own is probably your best bet however, or even just picking out the parts and then letting a system builder do it for you. If your interested in that I know several people that use these same forums, that would be more than happy to build your computer for you. Here are just a few things that I would look for in a system that will be at least worth 2K and maybe a great deal more.

----CPU: Pretty much any of the Core i7's, save the i7 980X Extreme, because games are better optimized for quad-core processors, instead of six cores, which is what the 980X has.

----Mobo: Any motherboard that supports a core i7 CPU and DDR3 RAM is fine, but here's a great one that's got the possibility for quad-fire if you wanna try that :P ----> GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD9 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 XL ATX Intel Motherboard

----GPU: Depending on whether or not you like Nvidia or ATI, your GPU should either be a: Radeon HD5970 or Nvidia Geforce GTX480

----RAM: 8GB of DDR3 (although with your budget you could go all out and get 24GB.)

----HDD: 1-1.5 TB

----PSU: I'd say around 1000W but don't quote me on that.

Hope this helps you too look around a little and see which computers are good, and the ones that aren't so great for gaming.

Note: While building a computer for the first time might be kind of difficult, it is very doable, and rewarding, not to mention a huge money saver. Just my two sense. Good luck with your build.

not hard at all. we can help you, if you need any help. I would go with a Phenom II X6 and a 5870 or 2, if you really want it. Keep the rest and in 2 years you'll be glad you did.

You want to spend 4 grand on a computer because you're too lazy to build one yourself...?

You can build an amazing computer for like 800 dollars. And building it is really easy, I did it when I was 14 years old. The hard part is perfecting the build, just ask around on here. You won't get near 4 thousand if you try.

I've learned more from your posts than anywhere else. Thank you! Looks like I'll prob. go with ibuypower or like site, if better. But I'm getting fuzzy on some of the parts...MOBO, graphics card and should I get dual, so on and so fourth. If you could recommend some more insight please keep it coming. And I decided on the 4,000 budget cuz I want the rig to be relevant for at least 6 months!!!:P

Feel free to PM me, or any of the people on here if you have any specific questions. I'd be glad to answer them. Like RobboElRobbo said, building isn't hard and you can get a great gaming machine for a fraction of the cost of Alienware, for example.

Just read up on everything, then read everything a couple more times and you'll be good. Make a new thread for every piece of hardware you're thinking of getting if you have to.

You can buy the parts, spend 40 bucks at any computer store to let their technician build it for you. You can buy all the parts you want from that particular store if you truly can't be bothered.

Spending 4k on a PC is pointless espescially if you're not an enthusiast who's willing to self build. The only way i'ld spend that much on a PC is to by a setup rather than one PC: a file server, client, netbook and networking should be possible at that budget.

The 4k came from me putting a rig together at cyberpower, and ibuypower. Every time it would hit 4k w/o monitor. I already said I'm not a 100% on what I'm doing, but I'm trying. Plus I think I am gonna go with building myself anyway so I'm sure I wont hit the 4k range. Then again...I think I'll make it float!!!:D
