Need some shooter recommendations

Pretty much the only online multiplayer I truly love is of the shooter genre.

I'm receiving my copy of Windows 7 within a week, so I can *finally* get rolling. :cool:

Any suggestions for games that offer a deep competitive and active online experience? Except for Counter-Strike. I don't care if the game is F2P or not in the least.

Games I already play/am planning on playing:

-Quake Live

-Assault Cube

My specs:

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

NVIDIA 8600G MT graphics card

(Ancient, I know, but it's what I have for at least the next 6-7 months).
