ok so My 8800gts 320 is running at 65 celcius (much better than the usual 75-80 since i changed the direction of the fan) idle and I REALLY need to cool it down somehow. can anyone suggest any other methods than adding more fans? Im going to add two more anyways so yeah.

if its like any old Nvidia GPU, the fans dont run as fast as the could be since Nvidias drivers keep them lower for noise. get something like Rivatunner or Ntune and set the fans higher. if noise doesnt bother you you can keep them at 100% at all times and it should cut the temps down to at least 55 celcius

You could remove the face plate and screw a 80mm fan into the heatsink, and replacing the original thermal paste with some as5 usually helps.

Shouldn't void the warranty, and the face plate can be place back on.

The regular temps for the 8800GTS idle is 60-70 Degrees Celsius. 55C is actually very good for that card. Do not be too worried.

really? I read in many places that if its above 50 its damaging the card, does that not apply for this card?

Yeah that's normal, my GTX runs at 58 degrees when idle and 61-68 when stressed

GPU's are made to be able to tolerate running hotter than your typical CPU's. That being said, anything that you can do to bring down temperatures by significant margin can't hurt. :)

I second using some better thermal compound on the GPU as well, but not so sure if you can really (safely) use AS5 for the part of the surface touching the RAM chips. Either it isn't, or you may have to use a smaller amount than you might think, simply because it's more likely to run and could leak onto the PCB.
