Ok i have a Presario CQ62 and here are the specs AMD athlon 2 dual core proccessor 2, GHz 1mb L2 cache 320 gb harddrive AMD M88OG with ATI mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics and i have windows 7 Basically i just need to know if i'd be able to run Team fortress 2 and counterstrike because i'm thinking of picking up these games since i just got this laptop. I'm orginally a console gamer but i'm pretty good at fps so hopefully the transition to a mouse won't be too painful haha. Lastly i'd like some suggestions on games i'm into shooters but i wouldn't mind playing a game that eats up plenty of my time something like a rpg or adventure game thanks for all suggestion and comments.

Yeah, you're good as long as you stick to stuff made in 2004 and before.

There are hundreds of great rpgs and adventure games, something you've sadly been missing on in consoles..

And, by god, do they eat up their time, much more so than your average everyday fps:

Baldurs Gate 2, Planetscape: Torment, Deus Ex, The Longest Journey, Diablo 2, Final Fantasy 7, TES4: Morrowind, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, just off the top of my head.

Counterstrike is like the WoW of FPS. It'll never die.

Just order it from Steam.

Don't get Oblivion, mainly for these 2 reasons:

1. Too graphic intense.

2. Morrowind is better.

no but if you live in the states or canada they sell visa giftcards (look for ones that are used by mybalance.com/.ca (they would explicitly say that they can be used online))

use them to get any source game you want off steam.. half life one completely is like 14 bucks atm and the orange box entirely is another like 25 or so..

and css can be had for like 10 bucks.

and hl2 deathmatch is free so yaya for that

as for oblivion a few places still sell it though its expansions are hard to come by.. again i recommend steam as steam is epic win. seriously thats what i do for friend whom i know have steam but not what they want as a gift as far as games go.. i simply send em a 25 dollar visa gift card and they can go nuts.. they are happy, im happy, and hey it was certainly worth it.

You have to get Halo CE and Warcraft III (and the TFT expansion).
Rome Total War and Cod4 are pretty good, though I'm not sure if you can max out the gfx settings.
If you want games that easily run on your laptop get Recettear, Braid, World of Goo, Plants vs zombies or Audiosurf.

the desktop equivalent to his system is an athalon II x2 of the same clock speed an an hd 2400xt

i had a 2400pro (correction have, its in my folding box)and i could do hl2 and portal on medium - high with playable fps and i was sporting an older p4 prescott. i think he can do them on medium - high just as i could.

they wont be as cheap as a 4250 or 4330

ive seen 4330's in systems as cheap as $450-$400 and thats new and from a decent brand (dell, asus, hp, msi, etc.)

I was going off of performance i got while my gtx 280 was dead and i used an integrated radeon 4200. Team fortress 2 barely got 30fps on low in dx9 mode and if i wanted 60fps i had to set it back to dx8 and disable some other stuff.

What does this have to with anything? 30FPS is most definitely playable.
