I can't decide whether to pick up Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas for the PC since almost everyone says it is the better version. My main question is, is there any story that is related to Fallout 3 in New Vegas? also will miss anything relivate in Fallout 3 gameplay wise or does New Vegas have similar gameplay

Fallout 3 is great, I had it without the DLC. If you buy the GOTY edition it will be good. But its not needed to be played before NV. The storys don't connect.

They are pretty much the same game. I wouldn't get new vegas just yet. To many issues and bugs as of yet

there is no relation to the stories, the only thing I can think of is that there has been mentioning of the brotherhood of steel.. thats pretty much it. I haven't run into any bugs besides the fps dropping once in a while but i turned it down to high settings and it helped.

From what I hear FONV is an improved FO3. And the stories are completely different. FO3 is still a fun game but I would just go ahead and play New Vegas.

New Vegas has new things in it and improvements to the gameplay, although the downside is that it has a lot of the bugs from Fallout 3 as well as a bunch of new ones too.
