Right now I have a choice of switching over to Vista...would now be a good time for this? Also, would I notice a drop in FPS in games like World in Conflict and Company of Heroes (both with dx10 rendering) and in Supreme Commander? System: 8800GTX, Intel E6600 Processor, 2 Gigs RAM. I'm mainly just curious about dx10 and what it looks like, but I dont really want to experience large performance hits along with it...

Thank you!

Right now Vista really isn't worth it. It seems like more of an aesthetics upgrade. And I believe they are already working on a service pack for it, so you should wait.

Another important thing to note is that the Vista drivers for the 8800GTX aren't that great yet, although they are getting better. And DX10 will make a huge impact (in a bad way) on your FPS for certain games when compared to XP with DX9.

Just wait for drivers and everything to get optomized before taking the leap to Vista.

Note: I do not have Vista, and these are all just things I've heard about.

I totally agree, stay with XP. I am dieing to dest drive a DX10 Game, I have a PC afteral beacuse they have the best graphics, and I realy enjoy gaming when its on the cutting edge of visuals, but from everything thatI have heard, I agree, stay with XP for at least 6 months.

Your system should be able to keep up with a lot of ... until late next year, so your okay. Do you have an SLI MoBo? If so, one more card will keep you good for at least 2 years, of course, by then will be seeing GeFource 10,000! and we'll all be on Mars - LOL
