$529 is overpriced for a netbook. Look at ASUS eee or MSI Wind with the 6 cell battery. Both can be found for under $500.

There are some variations, but basically they're all the same components. They differ where some have bluetooth and some don't. Also, some have wireless-n cards, and some just have wireless b/g. I have a msi wind, and it's does just fine in normal usage such as web surfing and microsoft office. Some of the tube websites tend to start straining the machine especially if they have a lot of ads. HD videos are more than likely off limits unless you do some tweaking.

I would go either with MSI or ASUS. They are both the same as far as I'm concerned.

I've got a Dell MIni 9 with a 32gig SSD. Works great running the vanilla Ubuntu 8.10 install with the Netbook Remix GUI installed. I added a 2gig ram chip myself for ~ $25. Runs perfectly, about 3.5 hours on battery

NC10 is a rebrand of the ASUS. The internal components are the same. You'll be fine. Maybe you can find some on NCIX or Newegg.ca?
