I just ordered Dungeon Siege 2 yesterday and I'm looking for a few more dungeon-crawler/adventure games. Well, I came across Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir and it's looking fantastic. I was thinking about buying the original Neverwinter Nights 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer.

Are the graphics any good with those two? What would you rate them? I heard a lot of complaints that Neverwinter Nights didnt make much of an effort to look that grreat visually, especially for a Q3 2006 game. If they're not good, I'll just wait for NWN2: SoZ. Thanks in advance.

Neverwinter nights 2 is a fairly fun game for me just be careful it uses the Dungeons and dragons 3.5 rules so you better not read up about the classes otherwise youll make a gimp char and not be able to fight

I *tried* to play NWN2 on my 7800, and gave up, got a 8800GTX, and...it still wasnt that great performance, thing is, the game doesnt look nearly good enough to warrant such poor performance..

The Witcher runs on the same engine, and that game was so much smoother and easier to play.

well, I'm looking forward to the coming expansion of NWN2 as well, since the original game is good and the first expansion is exceptional. The graphic is "not good" considering its high system requirement. The improved Aurora engine (The Witcher) looks much better.

at any rate, NWN2 and its first expansion MotB are not "dungeon crawler" type (Diablo, Dungeon Siege) of game, farrrrr from it. and the coming SoZ will not be one either.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Good to know. I was wondering if the game was good too, not just the graphics. Thank you for the answers. I think I will hold off for NWN2:SoZ.

I enjoyed NWN2, and I loved the expansion. MotB was the closest thing to Baldurs Gate 2 that I had played in years. The story was fantastic.

The Witcher was not based off of the NWN2 engine, it was based off of the original NWN engine. With obvious improvements. But I will also concede that, regardless of graphics, Mask of the Betrayer had one of the best stories I've ever played. But if you're looking for dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Siege, Space Siege (sci-fi version) just came out, and there's always Diablo 2. You could risk it with Hellgate London if you wanted to, but there's not much story at all.

NWN2 runs just fine on medium-ish settings on my geforce 6800. Certainly better than the Witcher.

Anyway, NWN2 is nothing like Dungeon Siege 2 (in that it's not a hack 'n' slash action RPG, although there is plenty of fighting nonetheless). But you should still get them. The original is meh, but the expansion is brilliant (also performance is better in the expansion). And SoZ looks great as well.

I've not been able to make up my mind on deciding to buy Neverwinter nights 2 or not for a long time, and always hear mixed opinions on it, from what i've gathered Neverwinter Nights 2 is a great game, but it has some performance issues, if you have a good computer, and don't mind a few bugs (a lot are fixed now, but some still remain) then your have a good time, however the expansion is out of the main games league, and is absolouty amazing.

I think you'll need NWN2 for Soz, as it is an expansion. But if hack'n'slash is what you want to play, I guess none of the NWN2 (including SoZ) will be your cup of tea.

Personally, I liked NWN2 and MOtB - especially the latter, that was more ... intense.

Oh ok, thanks! :D So basically, I'll need NWN2 for all of them? MOTB wouldnt happen to be standalone now would it?

I like RPGs, adventure games, so this should be right up my alley. :D

I don't think the game is very good.. it looks decent if that's your worry, but the game itself had some serious bugs when it first came out and I don't know how much of that is fixed. Have you tried Icewind Dale? I keep hearing how good a game it is for dungeon crawling. I never tried it myself but it seems to be universally recommended.

Umm, you speak out of pure ignorance, you do not KNOW if they have been fixed or not. They have been fixed for AGES, the game has had continued support and patches by Obsidian.

If you're looking for a very good story, in a fantsay setting wand good old D&D role playing it is a very good game witha lot of replay value. The expansion is even better,

That's what I said. I don't know why you feel the need to repeat me. I am SO sorry that such a broken and bug-ridden game left a negative impression on me.

NWN2 was needed for MOtB.

NWN2 will be needed for As far as I can read on the official forums, there is some confusion about if MoTB also will be a requirement for SoZ. Time (or deeper research) will tell.

It is so bug ridden and broken yet somehow became a huge success. OK. It had issues at launch, name a PC game that didn't, many were worse, it has been fine for ages which is what really only concerns the OP.

Most unoptimised game ever (graphics like KOTOR with beter lightning, I can run every game on max graphics expect Crysis and NwN2) and buggiest game ever (with every patch some bugs are fixed and even more made). It's impossible to finish the original campaign if you have the expansion installed and the latest "patch"

The OC: The story is mediocre, the romance plot and and the ending are terrible

I haven't played the expansion, but I heard the story is better
