Is it worth it?

I bought the original years and years ago and I couldn't get into the game, mostly because I have issues with reading (I don't like doing it)

I love the Elder Scroll Series, loved the Witcher .... would I like this game?

Any input is appreciated.

Probably won't enjoy it if you don't like reading.

most of it is not voiced over

I don't know how anyone can say there's not enough voice acting. At least 70% of the stuff in the OC is voice acted (and quite well acted, too unlike in Bethesda games). All of the main storyline (a very lenghty storyline BTW) is fully voice acted, your companions are fully voice acted. At the very least it's nothing like the first NWN which turned the OP off (that one had only a couple of main NPC's voice acted and the rest was all text).

I'd say you should at least watch a couple of "Let's Play" videos of the game on YT and see if the game features the proper amount of oice acting for you; but IMO the game is far closer to KOTOR and Dragon Age then it is to the likes of NWN or Baldur's Gate (at least as far as voice acting is concerned). It's deffinitely worth the 5 bucks, especially since Obsidian are seriously underated when it comes to writing and storytelling in an RPG.

Just the beginning of the game.. and then the voice overs are nearly non-existent. Lots of reading. D&D system. This isn't like Dragon Age. A bit more complex, if you're into that kinda thing. It's still a wonderful game. Cheers.

I have a question too: have they fixed Vista issues with the Steam version? I installed my boxed copy last summer and it doesn't function on Vista. I googled and it's a fairly common issue.

Vista 32 bit

I already have a retail copy of NWN 2: Gold, but I just downloaded the Platinum Edition from Steam. It runs flawlessly, and the best part is, all my saves are still there. I had uninstalled the Gold Edition before installing the Steam version, so having the saves work with this version was a big relief.

You may wanna take it into consideration, it's not expensive with $4.99 right?

Storm of Zehir was one of my favorite games I played this year...if you ever enjoyed old school RPG's (like really old school...Pool of Radiance from SSI for example) definitely grab it because it's really great.

It's a great game but I really doubt you would like it.

TC if you don't like reading - I don't think you will enjoy NWN2 to the fullest. That said, I've loved NWN series!

I also strongly dislike the original, it has a horrible campaign. But i love the modding community, the game shines because it is a excellent experience in multiplayer with friends. Though i don't understand why you dislike reading, since that is infinitely more immersive than listening to someone talk, well, at least for me, i guess it depends.

Anyway, i think the original's campaign (NWN2) is decent, and greater compared to the first one, though the campaign in the Mask of The Betrayer expansion (which should have ben a full blown sequel) is vastly superior in every comprehandable way, which is my favorite story of this generation itself.

Not sure where these comments are coming about most of the game not having voice acting. It's the opposite, there are a few side quests if I remember not being voice-acted. But all of the main story line, all of the companions and all of the major npcs are voice-acted.
