Both games are very good but it all comes down to what style of RPG you want. Neverwinter Nights 2 is an isometric (top down) point and click game where Gothic 3 is a third person action game. I personally enjoyed both games a lot. If you do purchase Gothic 3 make sure you patch it before you play it. The release version of the game is very buggy.

Firmly Agree. I would go with Gothic III

I'd recommend NWN2 (and its excellent expansion pack) if you liked BG2 or KOTOR.

I'd recommend Gothic 3 if you like Morrowind, or other free-roaming RPGs.

Gothic 3 has more technical problems than NWN2, and NWN2 has more of an emphasis on characters and storytelling, but I really enjoyed Gothic 3's massive world.

Both games are "so-so" RPG's. (I'm a massive RPG fan) To be honest I had much more enjoyment with their predecessors for both games.

Mask of the Betrayer > Gothic 3 Patched > Vanilla NWN2 (imo)

I agree with the order :) Altough Mask of Betrayer is anything but "so-so" and while NWN2 wasn't groundbreaking game, it still beats the living hell out of first NWN SP campaign

As long as you avoid Mask of the Betrayer and the lowly Soul Meter which ruins everything, I would say NWN2.

If you have to consider the expansion, then Gothic 3, not even an ounce of a doubt.

Mask of the Betrayer is the worst thing to ever happen as a sequel. The soul meter ruins everything. You won't be playing the game, you will be feeding this ever-hungry thing. Stay clear of it.
