NWN 2 has an awesome story and the same classic combat (DnD-style) that I love. Guild Wars, well, all it has in PvP content. Thats the best way I can break it down.
They're both very, very, very different games. Personally, I like both of them. NWN2, for me, is more of a single player experience. Yes, you can play online and there is multiplayer, and there are persistent worlds out there, but it is nothing like an MMO. Also, the game mechanics are entirely different. GW uses a skill system that strives off of teamwork to utilize their limited skill set in a synergistic manner. NWN2 is D&D, so you get all sorts of feats and such to pimp out your character. Both games, however, have the advantage of longevity.

If you want an MMO, get Guild Wars. If you want a fun single player game that you can play multiplayer with a few friends, then get NWN2.Â

I agree , but NWN 2 ending was a big letdown ... imo . Still nice game :)  Â
Guild Wars. Get Neverwinter Nights 2 after they release about a few thousand patches.
Neverwinter Nights 2 has a boring unfinished linear story with a terrible ending, boring locations, uninteresting characters and a million bugs. Obsidian is NOT Black Isle and never will be as good as Black Isle was.

Total BS, the story of NWN2 was better then Oblivions or NWN1 by far. The game works fine now and has for awhile. No contest IMO, NWN2 is way better, and the loads of mods will give it a long shelf life. NWN2 was way better then NWn1 when it first released, can people even remember the dissappointing campaign of NWN1? It was only after many mods and 2 expansions did NWn1 actuall become great. NWN2 is a great RPG. Obsidian are some of the most talented writers in the business.

ummm most of obsidian is made up of black isle employees. The whole dev studio was founded by former black isle employees.

I don't know how you think that the characters are uninteresting(MUCH better than NWN1) and the locations are boring. Most of the bugs are already gone as well as the camera control issue that the game had on release.Â

NWN2 IS better than NWN1 and Oblivion, I never said it wasn't, but it's ruined by having so many bugs.

You're joking, right?
NWN2 was way better then NWn1 when it first releasedspiltmilk
No, it wasn't mostly because NWN2 was very unoptimised and it had a lot more bugs than NWN1. IMHO it is THE most unoptimised game and the buggiest game ever. I mean the graphics look like KOTOR with pixel shader and the system requirements are like Oblivion, but the graphics aren't as good as Oblivion's ( I don't mind graphics, but the game was very unoptimised and ran terribly on my computer )
Obsidian are some of the most talented writers in the business. spiltmilk
I doubt it, they copy almost everything from BioWare. ( like I said, they are NOTHING like Black Isle )

Just look how stupid the romance was and all the locations look the same ( like in Oblivion ). NWN1 did have uninteresting characters, I never said that NWN1 had more interesting characters or that it was better.

No, they're not gone and they camera sucks like before ( I didn't mind it much )

All the locations do not look the same. At least not anymore so than they do in most other games Guildwars included. Also Deekin is one of my favorite characters from a game in a while, he was hilarious so I can't agree that NWN1 didn't have any interesting characters. Furthermore the character development in NWN2 was fine for me. Sure there could have been a little more, but I did get some enjoyment out of it.
I will agree with you that the game is buggy though. While they are making large strides in fixing it, they still have a ways to go. They pretty much broke the Dwarven Defender class back in the 1.04 patch (may have just been then 1.05 one). That said, there isn't any game stopping bugs aside from having a Dwarven Defender and being really really disappointed. The number of mods are starting to pick up and this game is going to keep on getting better for years to come. I really enjoy developing things for it.Â

If thats the best you can break it down, then you need to try ALOT harder next time. You left out it's whole PvE part. You say it is nothing but PvP, I say you haven't played the game then.Deekin is one of my favorite charactersjuggernaut8419
I agree Deekin was funny, but aside from him, the characters aren't as interesting as in some other RPGs ( PS:T, KOTOR, JE etc. )
Furthermore the character development in NWN2 was fine for me.juggernaut8419
Actually, I thought the character development in NWN2 is one of the best in an RPG (PS:T's and KOTOR's were also very good )
EDIT: In NWN2 they forgot to make Deekin with wings, since he was a dragon disciple in Hordes of the Underdark and grew wings.Â
Guild Wars
Point and click RPG - the game is fairly simple to learn. There's alot of different classes and skills and stuff, but basically you're limited to 2 classes, and set skills. For a gamer the game is plenty complicated but hardcore RPG players will feel it's dumbed down. As somebody else mentioned good teamwork is essential, but solo-ing is possible.
Low system requirements - factions and nightfall are beautiful games (prophecies is ok visually), and they don't really require very powerful systems to fully max out the graphics.
Online only - there's no subscription costs but if you don't have internet for some various reason you can't play which sucks. Also there's no user created content.
Â
NWN2Â
D20 RPG - D20 means the game is loosely based on the D20 rules of table top D&D, and if you don't understand a word of this just understand that it's nerdy and complicated. Nice thing is you get plenty of skills, but the bad thing is it can be overwhelming if you aren't use to it. Also if you aren't use to d20 there's going to be a bunch of new stuff thrown your way that's going to confuse the heck out of you at first. Â
Very high system requirements - even with the super badass system expect the game to run like crap. Maybe after a few patches it'll get better, but who knows. Even then the graphics are so-so IMO.
Online/offline - you can play online or offline so it's whatever moves you. Also if it's like the first one there will be tons of user created content.
[QUOTE="juggernaut8419"]Deekin is one of my favorite charactersDarth_Kane

I agree with you on that. I was in no way defending the other characters in NWN1. Most of it was bland and felt like more of a "see what you can do with our toolset" type of thing for the OC. I just needed to give Deekin some props. At least the expansions had a lot more to offer character and story wise.
Guild Wars is similar to Diablo 2, only with much more intelligent gameplay - most missions require parties, co-operation, strategy, etc. There's enough in both the PvE and the PvP for most players to enjoy it, and it has low system requirements.
NWN2 is similar to Baldurs Gate (or any of the Infinity Engine RPGs), only the engine is crap. It looks great (the high-level spellcaster battles look amazing!), but most computers can't run it. Also, the controls are a bit fiddly - it's best just to control everything with the mouse.
Imo, NWN2 is much more story-focused than GW, and GW has much more 'gameplay' than NWN2. GW will probably last you longer, but NWN2 has more 'variables' (good/bad/whatever).
Neither are bad games, so you won't be making a bad choice either way.

You say it is nothing but PvP, I say you haven't played the game then.I know Guild Wars has PvE and I know it is pretty enjoyable at times, but it just doesnt do it for me. If I want a storyline mode and PvE, I would just rather play offline with NWN 2 if I had to choose between the two.
You gotta take Guild Wars for what it is, and that is the fact that its a MMO replacement. They took an aspect of MMOs that is often underdone (PvP) and came pretty close to perfecting it, but you dont get the whole package.
Actually, in HotU you had the choice to level Deekin as a Red Dragon Disciple. If you didn't want him to do so, and ordered him to remain pure Bard, then he wouldn't develop wings. Still, the devs should have made Deekin a RDS, as I'm sure Deekin would have eventually made that decision on his own.EDIT: In NWN2 they forgot to make Deekin with wings, since he was a dragon disciple in Hordes of the Underdark and grew wings.

How did you not say that NWN2's characters were uninteresting?
That is what he said. Neverwinter Nights 2 used D&D stereotypes far too often for my liking.Â

What? I said that BOTH NWN1 and NWN2 had uninteresting characters, I said that NWN2 had more interesting characters than NWN1
I think GW is the better game. NWN2 was fun, and the story was just fine IMO, but when it was released it was buggy beyond belief. It's in *ok* condition now, but there are still broken skills and abilities, as well as the same brain dead AI. Also, if you plan on doing alot of online play, forget about NWN2. Last time I checked, there was like 3-4 populated servers (more then 4 people playing), and they were pretty much all role playing servers. So if you don't like to be forced to run around saying "Greetings!, How fare thee my elf friend?", just stay away from NWN2 for now (maybe after expansion comes out).
GW on the other hand, is a huge game, that allows you to do many things, and caters to different types of players. Want PvE? No problem! There is at least 60 hours of PvE stuff to do. Like PvP? Well then this is one of the absolute best PvP games availible. Even though I don't play GW anymore, I still played it for like 6 months straight, and loved it. It is an exceptional value.

Thats funny because I thought NWN 2 (and NWN 1) were based off D&D gameplay and set in the traditional fantasy setting. What did you expect, something completely unrelated to D&D?
