wonder what engine that uses, didn't really look like Frostbite. Since its free i'll check it out eventually, Heroes was pretty fun for a while and this looks even better.
Russians? In Karkand?
What's going on?
Also, why is there fog everywhere?
alexlmt
Karkand has in BF 2 fog at 140 mts, which means that 150 mts was the top range view until fog blind. Someothers maps as Dragon Valley had no fog at all and the draw distance was about a mile or more.
IS DAT STRIKE AT KARKAND?!
Battlefield 2 ported over to Frostbite 2 engine it seems with 32 players. It's also free. I have plenty of friends who are gonna join me to play this. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this. Hopefully they get rid of the aweful view distance for Karkand and increase it by a lot. BF2 doesn't like Windows 7 very much for me either so I stopped playing it in favor of Bad Company 2. GIVE ME BETA NOW!
"New Battlefield Game"
Um, DICE... it's BF2...
I guess I'm kinda excited. Nope, nevermind...
Just annonouce BF3 already, DICE.
Damn, watching the trailer gave me a nostalgia orgasm, I really hope there's no stupid options to buy weapons like in BFH.

Lol, so let me get this straight, people actually think a company is going to bother to make a F2P game with no way to make money?
Really?
You know game companies are buisness and not charities right?

Hard to announce something thats already been announced.
This is like Valve saying they got a new Half-Life game being announced then come out with a gimped remake of the original Half-Life.

I don't see how you can think that, since everyone just got their hopes up. They said new BF game, this is a new BF game, and it should be enjoyable. It's free, you can't really complain about a game that you have to pay absolutely nothing for.
So long as the cash shop works in such a way where the people who don't want to spend a dime still get to use the "premium" weapons this should work well... here is hoping for a rental system (that uses some sort of in game pts or currency) that lets non payers access to premium content (permanent or not)gamer620or better yet, have no stupid cash shop. Make it just like Battlefield 2 was.

would you prefer the devs make their money off annoying ads littering the game while you play? Cash shops aren't bad when done right(athough from what I hear Heroes shop was horrid), especially if non paying users have access to the same equipment. Take a game like A.V.A. You can spend real money to get a better weapon, or you can be good at the game, earn the in game currency and be able to rent the gun for a day. It works, and the opportunity to make money off the game for the devs is there without annoying the consumer. Meanwhile proper balance negates any over powered premium weapons that may take a non paying customer a lot longer to recieve (not to mention the ability to pick up said premiums in game will also negate the cash issue as well)
Needless to say... if BF:heroes is anything to go by, you SHOULD be expecting a cash shop.
[QUOTE="Wasdie"]Yea.. the hit detection is quite bad in BF2. It's not all that great in BC2 either. I've seen headshots not even register at all. never had problems with hit detection in bf2 , bc2 was pretty bad at first but now its kinda ok , but medal of honor ... sometimes you shoot someone and you can even see blood splatter all over the place but the dude is still alive and you dont even get a hitmarker , nothing ...As long as they fix hit detection I'm happy.
Sad at only 32 players, but it's free, can't complain.

Awesome.
But only 32 players?
I guess it makes sense because it's free though...
I'll definitely play assuming it plays like BF2. New players :D
Honestly, typically, F2P games start off and run well for the first year or so that they're out, and then they go to hell.
Combat Arms, Warrock, Soldier Front, a lot of people know those names and they know that they weren't the greatest games. They have good playability, but with technical issues, server problems, and balancing issues abound, they typically run themselves right into the ground before they can really sparkle. AVA and a few other F2P games have stood out in the sense that their cash shops don't eventually run the game, and I never played much of BF:H outside of the beta, but I like F2P games because I love the economies that are in them. I don't know why, probably just gives me something to work for and something to keep in good shape, whereas most shooting games I just go in to shoot.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think all games should be like that, but I just always need a goal to work towards that isn't 'Get x.xx KDR'.
So they gonna try to go up against Alliance of Valiant Arms with this one... Seems graphically pretty dang low even for free fps standards of alliance of valliant arms. Doesn't really matter.. This seems great. Pc gaming FTW.jedikevin2
AVA on max settings is honestly very, very pretty. It rivals that of the games that were around when it was released (2007 in Korea) and they actually did an overhaul to lower them so that more people could access the game. When they reintroduce it in the states (They already did in KAVA) then it'll easily look like a AAA title again.
Anyone know what to expect graphically?
breakinglaws
I'd say expect it to look like Battlefield 2 touched up with Bad Company 2 gameplay (There better be prone though.)

Yea I forgot about that. I'll be pissed if they don't have prone. I can guarantee that if prone isn't there that the closed beta forums will be flooded with feedback about it.This looks pretty good, it's free and no one is forcing you to play it so i don't really understand all the complainers. Speaking of Battlefield 2, does it still hold up compared to modern shooters? Do a lot of people still play it online?Same_Jeans_On
On gametracker.com there are several almost full 64 player servers, about 10. Then there are alot of like 50-60 player aswell
