My understanding is that you play most of the SP campaign as a Big Daddy, and that was my least favourite part of the first game. The recent SP trailer confirmed it, and along with the multiplayer they've shown, they killed my interest in this sequel. Not saying the game is going to be bad at all, just that I preferred the kind of play in the first game (sneaking around keeping a low profile, hacking into things, etc.). So I'm going to pass on Bioshock 2.
You reckon you won't be able to sneak and hack in this one?! I didn't think of that... It wont really be the same as when you were a Big Daddy in the first one as you are like one of the prototype big Daddies and more mobile I think...My understanding is that you play most of the SP campaign as a Big Daddy, and that was my least favourite part of the first game. I read a hands-on somewhere (can't remember where now), where they said there was a greater emphasis on action. I admit I'm just assuming that sneaking and hacking will be less prevalent, because it was pretty difficult trying to sneak as a Big Daddy in the first game ( those damned boots :P ).

honestly, I think if they just dropped the whole aspect of hacking and all that "rpg-lite" stuff they had in the first game, and focused on making Bioshock 2 a straight-up FPS, I think it would improve the gameplay.
Bioshock was such a diluted game in that the action was never frenetic, and the interesting stuff was never fully utilized, that it led to something that was boring imo.
If the developers instead focused on making one really good game of a specific genre and dropped the superficial stuff, it could be great.
Again, I am not saying Bioshock wasa bad game, it was just wasted potential. It could have been a really good action-rpg, or a really good horror shooter (a la Doom, FEAR, Quake, etc) but instead it took a bit of both genres and didnt excel at either of them, or on its own merit.
I have high hopes for Bioshock 2 and I think they will get it right this time, meaning critics of the first (myself included) will get their wish and fans of the first game will get more of the same great game and story.
[QUOTE="biggest_loser"][QUOTE="Treflis"]I only have one thing that bugs me as hell regarding Bioshock 2. In the first one you can find a couple of Big Daddy boots which makes you move slower and give you heavier footsteps, Big Daddies are clunky hulking things that relay more on brute strength then agility. However in Bioshock 2, when you are the first big daddy ever made you can run around at a remarkable speed. Am I the only one that finds that rather strange?TreflisIts a lighter prototype version though. Granted but then I'm wondering if you have a Big Daddy that can move fast and be very agile, Why would you want to make it more heavy and clunky. Can't be because of the water pressure cause it looks like the Prototype can do well underwater. =P
are we really debating realism concerning a game that takes place in a biological Dystopia existing underwater? C'mon, if it works and is fun, lets save the realism debate for ArmA and Operation Flashpoint, where it belongs.
I got an answer: since youre the player, youre special, giving you the ability to be both hulk-big and agile!
