Well Irecently got crysis warhead knowing i should be able to run it on gamer but i cant so now ive decided to ditch my old pc and build a new one im new to all of this so any help would be appreciated. Basically my limit is 400 pounds and graphics cards arent really an area i want to focus on as i just got a brand new 8800 gts for 60 3 weeks ago. so yeah if anyone could help me that would be nice (p.s. i don't want a huge case or a computer that would be loud and im only 16 so im not loaded plus i dont play games alot i just find pc games cheaper and better, ill only be playing orange box grid crysis and far cry when it comes out and i like playing on high)

Also i got together a few parts so if any one could tell me if this is good for me that would be great!

Your current PC should be able to play Crysis. If you select high you should get about 25fps average. When you say you can't, what do you mean? You can't install the game, or it won't run?

well i have it installed and it is legit basically the performance is really weak in dx10 but in dx9 i can run all gamer with 4 aa plus a few settings to enthusiast at 1680x1050 i just want to know why i cant play it this well on dx10 if it is meant to be more sufficiant. and the reason why i want to build a new pc is because my pc has locked 8x pci-e slot and i figured instead of buying updated parts i might aswell take out the parts i want in this computer and build a new one so are the above parts good or do you recomend elsewere thanks in advnace soz about poor gramma etc in a rush

By DX10, what settings do you have on? DX10 Gamer or DX10 Enthusiast? Also, do you have AA enabled?

By DX10 I have settings mainly on gamer a few on mainstream and motion blur off no AA and the gameplay is really poor like i must be getting 12 fps but on DX9 im getting tripple the performance with higher settings why is this?

can't you keep the PSU from your old PC and save some cash there, i'ld go with the second combo but get a dual core with a faster clock speed instead

Your current PC should be able to run any game out and that includes crysis on high settings. However DX10 pushes your GPU a lot in crysis. If you want to play it fine on DX10 your going to have to buy a better GPU or go Crossfire.

(p.s. i lag in grid sometimes which is wierd thats another reason too)

Personal opinion is your comp should easily play them games it has plenty enough power but as for a new build id go with this batch

CPU

RAM

MOBO

CASE

PSU

Total: £360.26 plus whatever on top depending on your delivery option and that will be a powerfull combo and much better than the quad core for gaming.

You need a new PSU and GPU before you look into processors. The 8800 GTS is a smidge on the weaker side, and you'll certainly be underutilizing a new system with it. Add a GPU to one of those rigs and your good, like a 4850.
