if this comp was prebuild then contact the company that sold it but if its not then that will be harder.

i dont want to draw conclusion but maybe one of your parts MAY be broken. it may be your PSU because if its broken then im pretty sure nothing would turn on. but this is just my guess.

or maybe you can just take it to a shop and ask them to check it. they will definetly know but it could cost you.

When you say it doesn't start do you mean that no light turns on and no fan starts working? If so its the PSU. Do you have other computer at home, use that other psu to try it out.

if it don't start, then it must not be receiving any power. check ur power source, cables, ensure they are plug in

Yeah check every connection, also it may sound stupid but most PSUs on the back has a voltage selector and a on/off button have you checked those.

Have you forgotten to connect the power cable for the front power button. If everything does seem to be connected properly you could always hot-wiere the PSU to see if it starts up.

Google:

http://www.techwarelabs.com/guides/misc_mod/psumod/

But you really have no other computer on your house? By the sound of it: hot-wire+YOU=DANGER! My advice be careful, follow instructions carefully.

Edit/ careful

Edit2/ even more careful

Either its a faulty PSU, you havent hooked the power switch cable to your motherboard or you forgot to flick the switchy thing on the back of the psu next to the power socket :P

It can be dangerous but it's a great way to find out if the PSU is the problem. Be safe. I hope you don't kill yourself!

did you use screw mounts? if you just screwed it into the case, it might cause the smoking issue you described

I admire your enthusiasm and your desire to build your own PC, however like in everything we must be careful, and if you arenot sure of better ask someone before you do it, or leave it to professionals.

That happened to my friend. He said that one of the mounting screws was causing a short somewhere and the mobo started smoking. I think it still worked when he remounted it.
