I getting a new computer soon and I want one that is good enough to play games like Crysis and Empire: Total War.How much would a computer like that cost (in euros)?

Also would Dell be a good place to buy a computer from as I'm not very good at building computers?

Hard to say. You need to shop around. But, the critical components will be your motherboard, CPU, RAM and Graphics Card. I would go for an Intel system rather than AMD. At the moment, AMD do not have CPUs as powerful as those from Intel and with modern games, CPU utilization is higher.

Intel System Budget:

Mobo: Asus or Gigabyte with P45 chipset, CPU: E4600, RAM: 2GB DDR2, Video: 8800GT

Intel System Bigger Budget:

Mobo: Asus or Gigabyte with P45 or X38 chipset, CPU: E8400 or E9450 RAM: 4GB DDR2 Vide: ATI 4870 or Geforce 260 or 280

You can spend extra and get X2 versions of ATI 4870 or Geforce 9800GTX which have two of these graphics chips on one card.Thes will fit into any mobo. Or you can buy two separate cards and run them in SLI or Crossfire. But with this method, you need to decide before buying whether you wish to use SLI for Geforce cards or Crossfire for ATI cards as the mobo can only support one type of dual card usage. Also, you will need to make sure that you have a good quality PSU for SLI or Crossfire and to a lesser extent X2 type cards. I would say at least 600W PSU.

If you're going to buy pre-built then I would make sure that the CPU, RAM and Video are as according to the above and also make sure the PSU is good enough.

Good luck.

It really depends on your budget. But as the other poster said, the main costs will be on the key components. And in gaming PC's that will be Graphics, RAM, Mobo and CPU.

I think you need to start with a good motherboard. Look at ASUS, MSI, & Gigabyte especially their mobos that are made for gaming. These allow you to overclock your CPU (if you are so inclined)

For the GPU i'd go for at least a GeForce 8800GT w/ 512MB DDR3 memory.

For the CPU i agree that you will need an intel based cpu. go for a quad core if possible.

I don't want to spend anymore than 1,250 euro but if I need to I will.Is it better to build one from scratch? if so is there a good manual that I can get to help build it?

Also where is a good place to buy pc parts?

you can try your own and spec it here but i think il help you. to put piece together for price since you'r seem to be a little careless about how to make a pc since you metnioned to buy from place like dell. and i can tell you it much less expensive piece to piece. and allow easy overclocking. from just a 90 to 180 euros motherboard & 40-50 euros cpu cooler. & from 120-200 euros cpu. the rest you can put on video card such as 4870 / 4870x2 / and a better cooling case to ensure ur durability of piece and place to store it also how long you expect ur pc to last before last upgrade ? so il chose a motherboard you fell like ?
good overclocking with guide ? or just a good X48 that is less overclocking ability cause there Foxcom blackops on ebuyer
cause if you want ur motherboard to last at last 2 year + you should go good quality
mean while i found this for 1050 euros

Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATA II 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM£47.99£40.84£47.99- £40.84

the psu should last about 5-7year Easy Before It Even blow up so chosd a 1000wats so you won't need to change psu before 5-7 year it should be adapative to most of crossfire / sli video card in ur gamer life until video card become totally different connection type and wats usage
the motherboard is mean for overclocking and max experiances. tough the website i couldn't find dFI LX OR Asus rampage Extreme in motherboard neither any better cpu then E8500 when we in north america got E8600 / 9550 / 9650 /
so unless you want a better cpu like E8600 you'l have to buy it somewher else that would increase ur fps. but maybe by a max 10% since E8600 is 5.0ghz is AIrcooling overclockign while E8500 is 4.0ghz. +

price will drop and we will see what we can do back then
like 4870x2 may dro pto 280 euros. back to november /d ecembmer
and the cpu you may get just enough for E8600 . with the budget you say when it come time
i doubt of nehalen need cause some peopel will say Wait nehalem but i got a novel that is Against nehalem
http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=15015&page=8 and is X58 For Start If nehalem doesn't increas is power by +35% with overclock feature. for gaming experiances they are running into dangerous zone
cause by see how you spend in euros for a pc you have to be an enthousiast gamer for pc. like me lol
cheap gamer only pay 300-400 euros lol or get some hot Screwing from dell at 1200 euros for 8800gT. with Q6600
2gB / 4GB 667mhz / 800mhz for 120 euros. you know they are overkilling. price for crap hardware
people with a cheaper model of Foxcom P35. motherboard instead of X48.i heard X48 are the top for overclocking / stability / durability of the hardware does of the high quality piece made X58 shall be on the top too but not before 2009 Q3 that what i think
does of the hexus review

i also forgot ram in the build it around 30 euros for 2GB 800mhz DDR2
by the time price of what i put inside will drop
