i recently bought the intel quad core 2 q9450 and according to the socket my motherboard has to support this cpu but whenever i start my pc the screen just stays black but the van is running all the time.

specs

Motherboard: Asus p5sd1-fm2/s

Socket: 775

Processor: Intel quad core 2 Q9450

Graphics card: ATI Radeon x1800 xt

PC: Fujitsu siemens Scaleo P

Do i have to download a driver for my motherboard to fix this problem?

could be that, or possible theres a chance you have not seated the cpu right. Try reseating the CPU first then get the latest BIOs drivers for your mobo

Just because the socket is correct, it doesn't mean your motherboard supports the CPU. Try updating your motherboard BIOS.
