I'm looking at buying a new desktop with the $1000 economy money and I'm willing to put in an extra $300. I found a nice desktop, but i'm not a braniac with all this tech stuff. Here is the specification of the Acer Aspire L3600:

Processor: Intel Core 2Duo E4600 2.4 GHz

Memory: 2GB SODIMM 667MHz (2x 1GB 677MHz)

Hard Drive: 500GB 7200rpm SATA

Optical Drive: Slim DVD SuperMulti

Video: UMA

That was all the information I could get. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I only use the computer for the internet and to play Simcity, and The Sims 2. I am buying a new computer because of the requirements of The Sims 3 and another game, but mainly Sims 3. The computer seems to match the system requirements and I think its a great deal at $1300.

I would like to know your thoughts about this computer. Will it be a good buy? I will be using it for a few years so I want to make my purchase well worth it.

Thanks in advance.

Since I'm not from the USA (Are you?) I would have no clue, but I'm guessing that is a MAJOR rip.

That rig may run Simms 3 but for the money you'd be crazy to purchase it. CPU is weak, RAM amount is small, didnt even list the GPU. C'mon man you can do way better for the money...

well first of don't buy a brand PC like Acer or HP, they screw you everywhere. Ex. the RAM is to slow for the CPU, the GPU is surely intergrated and the price is over it's value.

where are you from, find a custom PC site or a Part seller, it's the best way to save money.

if you don't want to buy on the web, you can browse to the local store invintory for the few desktops that acktualy tell you the video cards in them and deduce the best from that.

Hp is actually one of the best prebuilt other then botique sellers like alienware and voodoo. dell is crap, only half decent thing they have regarding computers is the high end xps models and even then meh. Hp for the money is really good from what i can gather from reviews. Like oh what was it media center hp pc, i rmember it had 4gbs of ddr 2 ram no sure the timings, 9800gt, blu-ray drive for the movies (media center) and a Q6600. For i think it was 1399 CND. Not bad, considering, it even had a 650watt psu and came with a hp monitor. the bad thing is i seen it at futureshop lol...never buy pc's from there, ever!

huge rip off you would be mad to buy that, build one your self and if your not comfortable with that do some reaserch on how to do it, you will save money and also know what the exact parts will be in the desktop.

Horrible rip-off bro. I know people shun the recommendation I'm about to make but seriously, buy the parts and build it yourself. You'll get an ASTRONOMICALLY better PC for that price, and build a PC from scratch isn't that hard at all, just gotta follow the instructions. For that price, you could probably get an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 Ghz, 4gb of DDR2-1066 RAM, a 640gb Western Digital Hard drive, a DVD+-RW Burner, a 20"-22" monitor, an Nvidia GTX 260 or an ATI HD 4870 1gb, the list goes on. It's a rip-off, and putting the $1300 to a custom built system that would OBLITERATE that desktop you're looking at.
