makes sense, I guess
barbarian - melee
witch doctor - oddball magic
sorcerer - regular magic
monk - oddball melee, with a dash of magic I think?
demon hunter - ranged
dual crossbows sounds kind of lame, though.

Cheers dude. Looks like an interesting mix. The hybrids look pretty good to me. Cant wait for this game.
I'm excited for this class. The demon hunter can lay down traps it seems in addition to being a very agile ranged specalist. It looks to be a combination of the Rogue and Assassin from previous games. :)
Looks solid. This will be the first class I will play when the game comes out, then. It's just a little tradition of mine - to start every RPG I play with a ranger/rogue type "flagship" character.madrocketeer
Im the same way except with casters. I am deciding on whether or not to start off as the Sorceror or Witch Doctor...probably the sorceror.

I would have to name that character Goro :D
I really cannot figure out why people get so stoked about Diablo 3. To me I haven't given a crap about an isometric-viewpoint game since the original NWN in 2002. It has to be nostaligia is all I can figure.
It is 2010 and I expect more detail and better immersion in an RPG than a character that is 1 inch tall on a 24 inch monitor, regardless of how good the particle effects look. I'll drop 20 bucks on an action RPG like Torchlight, if for nothing more than to give support to indi developers. But I refuse to pay $10 over retail (almost a given since it is a Blizz game) on a game like this.

Nope, it is awesome and it works. It is simple yet complex. I love that I can just chill out and kick some monsters ass with friends and such but nto think TOO hard. Yet it take some thought and the new one looks to be a bit more action oriented, in a good way. Not everything has to be crazy 3D stuff. Hell Diablo is so much more deep then games like oblivion (boring!).
Didn't impresse me - looks like a ranged Assassin with trapsPredatorRulesWhat would have been impressive in its place, then?

Actually this is kinda like a hybrid of Assassin and a Bow Amazon...but crossbow. Anyway, the character looks a lot like Sylvanas.[QUOTE="PredatorRules"] I loved the Witch Doctor ideaPredatorRules

Funny thing for me, is that the Witch Doctor is the character I want to be the least. I think in order right now of most to lest interesting it goes:
Demon Hunter > Wizard > Monk > Barbarian > Witch Doctor.

Barbarian to me is the most uninteresting character to play because they didn't changed a thing - a good thing but also not very attractingI don't think its anything special... Just a darker Amazon type deal with a darker magic... Wasn't that impressed.
Bioware might have written decent stories and character's development, but Blizzard is miles ahead when it comes to class design, class statistics, and gameplay balance.I don't think its anything special... Just a darker Amazon type deal with a darker magic... Wasn't that impressed.

I can't put my finger on it, but something seems really off with the demon hunter. She (at least so far dh is a she) almost does not fit in Sanctuary. She uses her crossbows very much like dual pistols, which in a way makes her more a mage than a ranged class. And in the gameplay videos her skills seems off too. For instance, I can see how a bolt has a delayed explosive mechanism thingy, but how can another scorch the earth? Or how can she throw, not one or three, but almost thirty knives in a circle? Split a bolt into hundreds of splinters, etc.
With the other classes skills can be explained, like the barbarian is so freaking strong that he can make the ground shake with a stomp; the witch doctor tosses some kind of extremely explosive potion and germs at (goat) people; the monk does everything really fast; and the wizard is just awesome at magic. They all somewhat agree with the previous games and lore and have reasonable skills.
But what kind of magic do the demon hunters possess? Based on the cinematic trailer she clearly can fire two crossbows without reloading or have some kind of cool reloading device attached to her crossbows, then it must be magic, right? Is she a gunslinger ninja, or a wizard with toys in her hands? Or are the crossbows magical?
I admit though that her throw-grenade-and-cartwheel-outta-there style is cool, unique among the other classes, and those skills do make sense.
I don't like it In fact as far as it goes they didn't add anything new with this class. Hell the only interesting class they added was the Monk and that's it. To me this is the assassin all over again but can do ranged this time and i was here thinking they were going to add the paladin. Who ever came up with this idea of demon hunter should be saked.satariconWait... ranged is a pretty big difference when comparing it to the assassin... The assassin was a pure melee character that was based around combo reliant skill sets. The demon hunter is a ranged class with a focus on AOE (from the looks of it) so how is that a remake of the assassin?

Also uses traps and bombs.
I'm not very happy with the final roster; seems that we have there 3, maybe 4 "crystal jaw" warriors; aside from the Barbarian -and maybe to some extent the Monk- looks like all the other characters can die in a hit or two. Also, there's no auras to enhance your team mates, and seems that shield will be pretty much useless this time, at least until they ship an expansion with new characters, maybe in 2015 or so.
