I'm withholding judgement as best I can , but so far it's looking pretty solid. I'm glad the visuals didnt take much of a hit for being an mmo. Some parts looked really great, I'm excited about that. The melee combat looks typical Elder Scrolls, which is ok as long as they throw in plenty of combo style animations to mix it up some. Plenty of movement with both melee and casters is key to good mmo pvp so I hoped they planned for that. I like the idea of the "single server" concept so I don't have to worry if my friends joined a different server. It's also good to know you dont have to worry about server population dwindling. That's been a mmo killer for many players, good to see that resolved.
My main worry is how big the world is going to be and how it will be connected. Will it be instanced like Age of Conan or more seamless like WoW? Nothing breaks immersion like a loading screen, the less of that the better.
Bethesda fanboy. Reporting as disruptive and moving on.[QUOTE="vfibsux"]

Thanks for the vid! Was just looking at the latest screens here on gamespot. I'm usually very critical when it comes to MMOs, but I gotta say this game actually looks really great. A lot of people seem very negative about TESO, I don't get it as this seems like the most innovative MMO in a long time, first person camera looks great, and will let us immerse ourselves in the dungeons and overall details, combat seems to be perfect for both regular TES players and MMO players to feel comfortable. HUD seems even better than Skyrim, so I'm sold.
Why the **** is this game not open pvp???
I will admit that it looks slightly better but this game would be so cool with open pvp. Bounties, jails, murderers, bounty hunters, assassinations... But nope, nope. They went the boring WoW route: split races into factions and let them fight it out in instanced battlegrounds. Yaay!11
In the end, I'm gonna put my money on that this will be yet another crappy WoW clone a la SWTOR. Why on earth would they make anything different when that stuff is pure cash cows.
Elder Scrolls has always stood for one thing, straying from that is making people freak out some. I can understand that to an extent, but this is a different game. I love MMO's and I love the Elder Scrolls, so the idea of putting the two together is pretty awesome to me. I am cheering these guys on to make this game great, I WANT it to be great. Does that mean it will? Nope. But too many people seem to want it to fail, but I see that a ton of this board anyway. It seems to be the "in" thing these days. Thanks for the vid! Open world pvp is an extremely small niche thing man. The 21st century pvp crowd destroyed it with spawn camping/griefing and generally being complete asses and calling it pvp.Why the **** is this game not open pvp???

They are Elder Scrolls man! One of the most famous rpgs, they could've changed the world of mainstream mmorpgs. They could've broken this horrible chain of themeparks and show future developers that you can pull off a mainstream sandbox mmorpg. I'm sure that if TES would've chosen a sandbox approach, it would be very successful.

Oh, I failed to mention i'm a hardcore TES fan myself so I see what you mean, and it was a strange thought at first a TES MMO. However as long as it is produced by another branch of Zenimax and doesn't keep Bethesda from giving us the singleplayer experiences that is the TES and Fallouts we love, I can't object to it, it is simply a bonus that is looking too good to ignore IMO. That is a more healthy view than simply hating it, as we seem to agree on. The lore could've been handled differently though, that I agree with certain people on.Thanks for the vid! I agree dude, but the community is what makes a great sandbox pvp game, not the devs. Sadly the modern day pvp community is incapable of generating that.

Yup but as mentioned, I do believe that if any title would've had a shot at making an actual successful sandbox, it could've been TES. But of course, it would've been a bigger risk than just doing the same old. :(

In my experience people who use the term "carebears" tend to be the ones who ruin pvp.[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="xWoW_Rougex"]
A big budget company should be able to properly design it though. It is indeed a small niche, which isn't surprising considering no major mmorpg feature open pvp. That's why I was wishing The Elder Scrolls would've changed it. I mean, they are SANDBOX RPG MASTERS and have been held that title for years. Yet when they make a mmorpg, they choose themepark elements.
Isn't those sandbox elements why TES is cool? The ability to just attack anyone! The combination would've been epic. Walking around in the wild and watching your back for pks. Is that guy over there, is he hunting for victims or is he hunting bears?! But now, they are giving us an mmorpg that takes away these cool elements.
Open world pvp shouldn't be such a small niche, it's one of the best features of mmorpgs if done right. TES, a major title, had the chance to turn this around. They could've designed a good open pvp world and they could've opened up peoples eyes and show just how awesome open world pvp is. They, if anyone, had one of the best chances of succeeding with such a task.

Same here.
Also the way I see it, the problem with a lot of modern PvP heavy games is that there is no consequences for commiting murder. As a result there is a lot of griefing, add consequences for PKing and suddenly there will be a lot less griefing around.

age of wushu had a pretty good system in place. if a person killed too many people players would be alerted and be told to be on the look out. if a player killed 15+ people nonstop the game will send NPCs after you and you will be hunted down like a dog until they found you. Once caught you are put in jail for 2-3 Days and on the 3rd day your character will have his/her head cut off and you will get a 24 hour debuff if you don't have the cash to bribe your way out or 3 friends to help fight your way out of execution.
being unable to play the game for days will prevent constant griefing.
uuuuugggggg...just watched the trailer and....to me that looked pretty craptastic. I don't want the game to fail, I wish it the best, but those clips certainly didn't sway me in ESO's favor. It looked like a *very* mediocre mmo collided with a dumbed down Skyrim.
Didn't help that I felt the guy even describing the game was bored, very monotone. Few months ago I was moderately stoked for this game, but the more I see, the worse impressions I get :(

Did we watch the same trailer? I was expecting this to be way worse, the combat is a lot better then I thought it would be and I didn't expect first person combat either :).uuuuugggggg...just watched the trailer and....to me that looked pretty craptastic. Did you watch the video post here? If you are talking about this guy being monotone.....are you seriously judging a game by the dude being interviewed rather than the content? Ya, just sayin it was boring to me. Everything he said was standard and he had no excitement which...didn't give me any excitement from the visual parts of the video. Basically here is what I heard/saw throughout the video.
(all in a very monotone, boring voice) "We have quests, we have dungeons, we have dungeons at end-game that continue dungeons you played earlier, we have pvp and Im totally stoked for it...woooo"
I dunno, this trailer just did nothing for me.
Its looking good, still no beta invite damnit :PMBirdy88You went from hating the game to being interested by it overnight. You used to like GW2, and then ended up hating itl; you praised Diablo 3, ended up deploring it.
