[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] Really because I haven't spent $60 for a 360 game for a long time and i'm not buying 4 year old games either. The cost of buying the platform is more expensive on the PC side (even without monitor because that would be like saying everyone that buys a console buys a tv with it...). The costs for buying games will be higher on consoles (unless you don't use steam or other digital stores), but not to the amount you said.Agent_Kaliaver
PC gaming is cheaper.
How exactly are you typing on this forum? Oh wait you had to buy a computer...that was at least $400 (for something that isn't a complete turd). Add $300 or so to that $400 you would have to pay for a computer anyway - and you have a $700 budget to build a gaming computer that can do everything and more. Add on top of that factor vastly cheaper games and you have a winning platform. Oh and monitors are cheaper than TVs, just thought I'd throw that out there too.
So you assume I am using a PC (which I am). I could just as easily be using a phone or the PS3 and possibly the Wii.PC GAMING is cheaper when it comes to buying the games, but not the platform. Do not try to throw in the extra things PCs can do that do not even effect its gaming capabilities. When we compare each platform as a GAMING device (I keep emphasizing that because that is what you originally said) then no the PC isn't actually cheaper (unless it comes to games).
Yes PCs do come with many extra features, but if you were to buy or upgrade a PC as a gaming machine, and solely a gaming machine (I know people that do, and while there are reasons to upgrade your PC a big one is gaming, because most likely you won't upgrade for a newest Microsoft Word) then it again isn't cheaper.
Also there is a difference between value and cost. The PC as a whole with all of its features and capabilities has far more value than a console even though a PC will cost more. However that doesn't change the fact that the PC still does cost more, especially when the PC will be made for gaming.
So sorry I still don't think PC GAMING is cheaper. The PC does have considerably more value for its cost, but it still costs more. And if I was to say want a gaming platform I will be wanting something to game on. I could already have a laptop that can do Microsoft Word so if that were the case then the value drops for the PC. That biggest factor to me will be how much it costs. If the Xbox 360 only costs $300 (or $200 for the cheaper model) and to build a gaming PC would be from $600+ and I want it specifically for gaming and not much else than yeah that is definitely going to influence my decision.
I recently bought a new PC for 420 euro (Case, HDD, MB, CPU, RAM, GPU, fan and unless you rage often and slam your monitor/mouse/keyboard you won't need those, you can also hookup your PC to your LCD tv nowadays). It's pretty much a beast although some might disagree as theres always something faster and above your price class to buy. But i ensure you i can play 99% of all the upcomming titles on max settings. A new console, when it's just released is around 400 euro. That means we have spent the same amount of money if we both buy 2 games.Yes a console (just quickly checked Xbox) costs around 250-300 euro nowadays. But i could have easily bought a PC with better hardware then the xbox has in it for less then that. I know it's a never ending discussion, but i am stunned by the fact people think console gaming is cheaper. Unless you ONLY just play 1 or 2 games then a console might be cheaper. But take a game like league of legends, completely free great game heck, you can even play everquest 2, lotr online, D&D online, for free nowadays if you want too. Get oblivion from a bargain bin and with the **** load of free and open source content you can get busy for ages. Wut...?? microsoft office? i rather use open office. I can go on for a while but the fact is those 20 bucks are easily compensated by all the great communities out there.
AND.... you need a PC anyway nowadays.....
