Hey, i am looking around for a new TV as i only have an old fat 22". There is one TV that caught my attention, a very cheap 42" Full HDTV, with good reviews. It's a Zepto Pantheon A42. It's cheap and nice, but people say when you use VGA you get 1320x768 max on the tv.

I know very little about HDMI, VGA and all that stuff, but my Xbox 360 (which is the main reason for new TV) is one of the elder models and dont have an HDMI-port. So i am a little confused here, will i not be able to play with my 360 in Full HD, or is there some other way to connect it? What about component, whats that?

It feels like throwing my money away if i buy a Full HDTV and i cannot use it :/ Though i will probably buy a PS3/Blu Ray in the future.

Help a noob please.

The Xbox 360 isnt actually Full 1080p, really its just 720p magically upscaled to 1080p. Thats why you should notice somethings look blurrier on the Xbox 360 then others, it all depends if the fonts, textures can still look good at a upscaled resolution. If you want to see real 1080p just look at a PS3's Xross media bar on a HDTV(using 1080p) and youll be in shock how detailed it really is.

EDIT: When it comes to HDTV's you have to be extremely careful on what you choose, ask the shop if you can use the HDTV for 10 minutes on youre Xbox 360 and then compare it to another HDTV thats more expensive. You will be surprised.

That is incorrect, the 360 is more than capable of playing games in 1080p, games like Virtua Tennis 3 and NBA 2K9 both support it.

Unluckily i can't test the TV because im ordering it from the internet.

Component: If i use the component cable that came with the 360, will i be able to run 1080p with that? You know this cable: http://consolextras.com/images/360_component_cable.jpg - Or will i only get 1080p with HDMI? All this is very confusing.

VGA: If i use a VGA cable and connect it to the TV, what resolution will i get? Remember, the thing i am wondering about is if i get full HD when i use VGA, due to the fact that the VGA-port on the TV is somehow capped to 1320x768. What does 1320x768 translate too? 720p? 1080i? 1080p?

I am really confused and maybe what im writing is making no sense. Im really thankful for all the help guys!

Games can be 1080p via Component, it was only the HD DVD drive that was limited to 720p/1080i via Component. It's strictly a matter of wether or not the HDTV can accept 1080p via Component, and most new HDTV's can

component video doesnt have the bandwidth to support 1080p video any ways. You would have to get a PS3 if you want the full 1080p experience. Even then, very few games support 1080p at this time. The only thing you need 1080p for is the blu-ray player.

Sorry Darth you're wrong. Component does have the bandwidth for 1080p. 360 games can be 1080p via Component. And 360 and PS3 have the same 1920x1080 games. The 360 versions even have more Anti Aliasing. Altho PS3 does have a lot of 1080p PSN games...

all 360 games are upscaled to 1080 if they are not native unlike the PS3 so 1080p is only worth it if you have a 360 and a blu-ray player

1080p over component can be done for games but chances are it will be largely unsupported. You should still buy that Full HD tv anyway to future proof your gaming for this gen.

Them zepto tvs are fantastic, i have a zepto a40 1080p and it is brilliant. i use it for my ps3 in my basement. its was expensive, like nearly 2 grand, its like bang and olufsen, not well known but good performance and handmade tvs are the best and thats exaclty what zepto is, i would get it.
