While the old video card is still in the PC, go to the Device Manager, and "Remove" it there. Then go to Add/Remove Software and remove any software that was associated with the old card. Shut down, remove the old one, put in the new one, and follow the rest of the directions that come with the card (some will do one thing, some will do another). The two most common are to either just install a "Standard PCI Driver" in Windows before running the CD Install from the video card CD, or to start the CD Install from within the Add New Hardware Wizard.
