I won a new pc from SlickDeals.net and am wanting to put a graphics card in to play some games. The Pc only has a 250 watt power supply and I really do not want to change that. What is the best card I can get for this? The model is this one:http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=desktops&a1=Category&v1=Everyday+computing&series_name=p6120t_series

I do not need to run Crysis or anything like that. Call of Duty modern warfare or Battlefield 1943 would be the most demanding games I would want to play. I still play alot of Battlefield 1942 and Star Wars Battlefront. I also do not need ultra high resolutions/details. Any recommendations?

I forgot to ask about monitors. I need to buy a monitor fairly cheap ($120 or less) what would you recommend?

It's probably not what you want to hear, but you really should get a new power supply. I don't think there's any card out there that's even slightly suitable for games, that will run on a 250w PSU.

That is not what I wanted to hear. My last desktop had a 6800 oc card in it and I ran it for 3+ years on a standard Dell 250 watt power supply. Is there anything that would work? Maybe a 9600 or even an 8600? I dont know much about ATI cards.

The best option:

EVGA 512-P3-N856-LR GeForce 9600 GT Low Power 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail $79.99

It will work with your 250W PSU and offer great mid range graphics, while still being really cheap. Not to mention EVGA is a great manufacturer.

This is the best card you will be able to run on that little wattage power supply.

9600gt low power system requirements for psu:

Minimum of a 350 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 20 Amps.)

Its just a safety precaution so noobs don't screw up. I know what I'm doing. Ran a 8600GT on 300W and 250W PSUs before. Also, a couple of the reviews specify they ran that card on 250W PSUs.

That card sounds good. I think I may get it. Modern combat will run okay on it?

How bag would the lag be if I played games via a wireless card (g router)?

Ya I'm aware of that. A 8600GT's power consumption is nearly identical to that of a 9600GT low power.

I'm as skeptical as you, but to be fair, the GeForce 9 series has lower power consumption than the 8 series.

Just received my new pc. They actually sent me one with a core 2 duo E7500 (2.93GHZ), 3 GB of ram, and a 500 GB hard drive. Are these pretty decent. I have never won anything this good before. If anyone has not visited slickdeals.net, I encourage you to do so!
