Your system is pretty old but then again league of legends is a 4 year old free to play game (its not like the requirements are high).

Its free to download so you might as well just run the game and see how it runs for yourself instead of asking us (after you play it, THEN you can decide if you need an upgrade).

Then you should state that in your opening post (we need to know what your currently at or else we can't really judge anything). Realistically both the CPU and GPU need to be upgraded equally (its hard to pick which specific one will fix the issue since both are 5-6 years old).

Your motherboard has a AM2+ socket, which means that the new CPUs from AMD (AM3) are not compatible. I would recommend to get a new motherboard, CPU and videocard. But you should first decide on a budget of $400 and up.

Here's a list of compatible CPUs http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?cat=CPU&Model=N61P-S According to specs "If you use AM3 / AM2+ CPU on AM2 chipset motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200 MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s), but the CPU frequency will not be influenced." This is the fastest CPU you can get for your MoBo http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Phenom-Socket-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B002XNBQJQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372959011&sr=8-1&keywords=HDX945WFK4DGI For today standards that would give you medium performance, and also taking into account that your MoBo will downgrade it to HT1.0 Not worth it IMO, but that's your choice.

Kinda true, your CPU is not anything powerful, at least now. The 9600 should definetly be replaced with something form the 600 or 700 series depending on what you can afford, maybe something around a 650 or a 750. There needs to be more ram if you wanter better performance overall, so id say get at least 8gb of ram, it couldn't hurt.

Dude, everything is outdated. You could toss that video card and get an entry level card like the GT 630 or 7750 but even so I don't think it would be worth the investment in the long run.

You can't re-use the same cpu if you get a new mother,so you don't get anything. And you don't get any better cpu if you keep the same motherboard
