I was switching from WoW to SC2 today and I noticed it smelled like something burning, and it just turned out to be my computer. I turned the game off and let it sit for minute and it dropped back down around 43C, but I may want to get a new cpu fan. Any recommendations on one? I am looking to upgrade a coolermaster 212+ fan.

I use the Corsair H50 CPU cooler. It's $65 on Amazon and is basically an all in one liquid CPU cooler. I've had it for about 2 and a half years now and haven't had a single problem with it. It's incredibly quiet as well, which is a huge plus.

If that's your vid, 2 things..

1st, put your heatsink back on!

2nd, take out the battery for a bit to reset the BIOS.

Yes I will put the heatsink back in, and I will take out the battery to reset the bios. Oh, and did i mention the burning plastic smell I have had in my room for the past 4 hours? I figured that was a good notification that my PSU went up. Thank you.

yeah PSU is shot.. take that sucker out stat n replace. odd smells mean that a capacitor is blown and if its noticeable in a whole room then its guaranteed to be your power supply. dont even leave it in the computer while you get a replacement that thing could fry your system. whats probably happened now is that your power supply is all worn out and will jump to life later on (give it like till tomorrow). but it should still be replaced, if it makes you feel any better mine jsut went too. my fan bearings were both shot to hades and i couldnt get my psu open for the life of me. so i now sport an OCZ 650 watt (zs series) on the positive side as a fun game you can plug in and turn on your power supply whne it works again and wait for the capacitors to blow. it sounds like a BB gun went off

Alright thanks. Got it out, and ordered a nice Corsair HX650. Apparently a nice quiet PSU, and its modular so thats a plus.
