Your spending like $50 on a cooler to get a few % better performance of your CPU?, not worth it!

in this case yeah not worth it.. given that this is an am2+ cpu id recommend upgrading to a phenom x4 with a cpu cooler for like 90-100 bucks and jsut sparing you the pain :P

The 5600+ I had (on an after market cooler) would only go from 2.8GHz to a whopping 3.08GHz before becoming unstable (at least one of the cores became unstable).

These CPUs can take a bit of overclocking, but nothing like you can get from a Core 2 or the Phenom II CPUs. As the first poster said, you'd just be wasting your money getting a new heatsink/fan for your Athlon.

Just be happy you can get an overclock out of it as much as you have.....I've seen people post that they can't get even up to 3.0GHz (on the Windsor or Brisbane models of that CPU).

i was referring to the origional phenom x4 quad cores that used a bit more power and needed to fend off the moderately stronger intel core 2 quad lineup.

Why is it a waste in buying a Cpu cooler and then when he moves on he can still use the cooler for the next AMD system he builds, or Intel 1366/1156.

your suggesting he upgradfe to a new socket entirely? and that he can keep his cpu fan lol fail. its a reference am2+ cpu fan gl getting ti to work an an am3, 1156 or 1136 socket.. fail!

hes better off getting an am2+ socket 4 core and calling it a day. jesus this would be like you suggesting he go from 775 socket mto 1156 when a quad core can be had for a fraction of the total cost.. heck the cpu alone would be about as much as the mobo for the new socket hahaha. you sir lose

no, no. It was a typo. 04dcarraher wrote 1337 instead of 1366. you see why I found humor in that?

yes im aware of the poorly place joke in that but there still isnt logic in recommending it as 04 clearly tried to do.
