[QUOTE="swehunt"] Your spending like $50 on a cooler to get a few % better performance of your CPU?, not worth it!neatfeatguy
in this case yeah not worth it.. given that this is an am2+ cpu id recommend upgrading to a phenom x4 with a cpu cooler for like 90-100 bucks and jsut sparing you the pain :P
The 5600+ I had (on an after market cooler) would only go from 2.8GHz to a whopping 3.08GHz before becoming unstable (at least one of the cores became unstable).
These CPUs can take a bit of overclocking, but nothing like you can get from a Core 2 or the Phenom II CPUs. As the first poster said, you'd just be wasting your money getting a new heatsink/fan for your Athlon.
Just be happy you can get an overclock out of it as much as you have.....I've seen people post that they can't get even up to 3.0GHz (on the Windsor or Brisbane models of that CPU).
i was referring to the origional phenom x4 quad cores that used a bit more power and needed to fend off the moderately stronger intel core 2 quad lineup.
