My laptop recently broke and I'm looking for a new one, I don't know anything about specs or other gaming computer stuff, it would be nice if it could run L4D2 but I definitly want it to be able to run TF2 i'm looking to spend around $500 but I understand if that is impossible

That's not an easy question to answer. It depends on what you mean by "run". You can always get stuff to run by turning off options but that could cut down on your enjoyment. The main thing you want is a discrete graphics chip....none of that integrated stuff. There's a huge range of stuff you can buy. Usually the more you pay, the more power you'll get. At a miniumum you'll want a dual core CPU. Intel is the best. As for GPUs, here's a link of whats available:

THIS is the least I can suggest.. ATi Mobility HD 4650 is pretty good for gaming.. Check out YouTube for videos showing how HD 4650 performs.

But if you could somehow get THIS... It'll be a BAM !!!!

Any good desktops? I don't know how to build a computer (for now) so I'd prefer it too just work out of the box.

ibuypower.com if you want a desktop pre-build, but you should really try building your own
