Hey everyone. I'm planning on buying a new alien-ware laptop just after Xmas because my current laptop is falling apart and needs to be retired. I don't normally play many PC games because i have a PS3 but once i get my new laptop i hope to take it to collage for study use and also personal entertainment in free time. However i don't know what game to buy for it once i do get it, I don't want to have 500 games filling up the memory, i want just one game that i will never get bored of. My question is what game does everyone recommend? I would prefer a game that: -Doesn't get repetitive -You can't lose interest -Online is optional (Not a necessity) -Is fun -Doesn't require constant hourly playing (Can play in intervals) -Not too addictive -Not a game that you complete in 3 days then the only further things you can do is repeat the story line or play again on multi-player -Not too hard to control or play I know the obvious game would be Sims 3 or WoW but i often get bored of Sims and WoW I don't want to try because i will become too addicted and also dont want a subscription required game. I know that im asking a lot but i thought i would ask a good gaming community to help me find the best game for me. Thanks in advance. -Pug

I suggest *building a desktop*, instead.

I seriously hate comments like that.

I understand that by price to price, desktops are superior than laptops, but there are people who need laptops for work, study, travel, etc. For example, stuff BESIDES gaming.

Edit: To answer OPs question, I would recommend RTSs since those aren't usually available on consoles. Try Starcraft 2, Company of Heroes, Empire: Total War, etc. They'll give you hours and hours of gameplay, and should be a new experience for console players. Also, I would recommend getting TF2 just because it's vastly superior than the console version.

That's like saying you want the absolute perfect game. What type of games do you like? FPS or MMO's? Battlefield bad company 2 is "addicting" and not fun at the same time for me. It doesn't make sense but it's addicting yet isn't fun, but its addicting so I play it :D. Is that the type of thing your looking for?

Here are some classics you should absolutely try:

  • Deus Ex
  • Doom 3
  • Half-Life 2
  • No One Lives Forever 1, 2
  • Crysis & Warhead expansion
  • Fallout 3
  • Brother's in Arms Hell's Highway (This is not your typical 1st person shooter, but I thought it was fantastic)
  • Call of Duty & United Offensive expansion
  • Company of Heroes (Seriously fun strategy game. Its absolutely awesome)
  • Mass Effect 1 & 2
  • Need For Speed Shift (Really fun racing game, I thought it was the best in the series)
  • STALKER (believe me, its a great game. You need to persist a little bit)
  • Lord of the Rings Battle For Middle Earth

In no specific order.

Well i got Borderlands for the PS3 and i never put it down. I completed the main and side story lines in 3 days because it was addicting. I don't want an addicting game that will make me either play it until i get bored of it or play it and complete it then have nothing else to do on it. Also i don't want it to make me miss lesons because i was too busy fighting a boss. Im also thinking of getting battlefeilds bad company 2 for the PS3 because of the online play and i prefer run and shooter type games to be on a console. But yes i like RPG, management, strategy... a lot of different types. however im loosing intrest in racing games. Are there any more tycoon games other then zoo, airline and rolercoster that are worth a look at? And ive got Oblivion for the PS3, i love that, maybe theres some other games like that? Thanks for all the sugestions sofar though. Im looking into every suggested. -Pug P.S. Borderlands is a great game for anyone whos not sure about it. its just a shooter kill everything type game

Heh... Where/when did I say that laptops were needed for gaming? Laptops are only good for work and education. They aren't worth splurging on for gaming use, period. Especially. Alienware; the worst of all the OEM Distributors. You basicly just proved my point.

Did I just read that?

Guess you don't know anything about computers.

Yes, desktops are better for gaming but laptops can be used for gaming too...
