Hi guys. After a LONG thinking, and after all guys that i asked, what should i upgrade sad, that i should upgrade my monitor. And now i have decided. I will hopefully be able to get a job in summer holidays, so i will have enough money to get a new monitor.

I was thinin what should i get:

Size: 20", 22", 24"???

Brand: Dell, Samsung......?

The panel isnt a question whit me. I would be happy whit any panel that isnt a TN panel.

What response time: 16ms enough???

Please answer. I really think that my card is overkill for 19" monitor. What do you think??

Check out Dell, Samsung, Acer, Hanns G, and Sceptre for the monitor.

Advertised ms response time doesn't mean that much, but 8ms and below is preferable. I've seen LCDs with a 25ms response time that ghosted worse than one with a 8ms response time.

You should get a 24" Widescreen LCD if you can, to take advantage of that 8800GTX... but most larger LCDs have a TN panel. =/

At least a 20.1" Widescreen though, if you can't afford a 24"  LCD / truly cannot stand TN panels.

No, really dont want TN panel, and i dont have money for 24" monitor, since the prices in my country are crazy. Dell 20" costs 750$.

So i was looking at this monitor: Dell 2007WFP or Dell E207WFP. The second one is cheaper, and it has better response time.

So which one. It will be mostly used for gaming and maybe some movies, programming..... And can you teel me , is the second one TN panel, since it is cheaper and it has lower response time?

i have a 24" benq which is damn good pq but i must say i wish i had saved the money and went with a 22", the price jump is pretty big. Many 24" displays do however have inputs for things like composite, svideo, component.

I currently have a 22" Widescreen and a 17" 4:3 in dual monitor mode, and it's great. The 22" alone is awesome. I'd say it's the sweet spot in monitor sizes.

The 2007WFP reviewed much better on CNET, the E207 is their budget version... maybe avoid that.

But i still somehow preferr 2007WFP. The only thing that bothers me is that it has 16ms response time. Is there anyone that has that monitor, and could help me. I think that Lord has it.

The advertised ms response time really doesn't matter.

Dell's LCDs are of high quality, I wouldn't worry about the response time since some monitors with a high response time ghost worst than ones with a low response time.

The Dell 2007WFP originally started as an S-IPS panel monitor, but Dell has been lame and been shipping some monitors with PVA panel.

S-IPS >> PVA

Averrage customer rating on dell.com is 4.7 out of 5, so i think that it should be a good monitor. And here we are not talking about 2 reviews, but 117 reviews. SO i dont think that this monitor is bad.

i understand that reviews are good. but most people on the site probally wrote their review shortly after the purchase, they probally did not get a chance to really push the monitor to see how well it performs under serious  gaming. plus we know it has a 16ms response, and finally, for that price you can get a better deal. that is why i dont think he should go for the 2007

Bah. I think that this monitor has TN panel. And i really dont like TN panel. Anyway thanks for the response. Even if i would like to get that LCD, i simply couldnt get it, since you cant buy it here in my country. Maybe on ebay.

Lol dude, advertised ms response doesn't mean anything. It's all about the quality of the monitor and the manufacturer.

I'd sure as hell get a Dell monitor with a 16 ms response over some crap manufacturer's LCD with a 5 ms response time.

TN panel.

what's so bad about tn panels?

Well TN panels are the most widely used and cheapest panels for LCDs, but they have some problems.

They can only display a max of 265,000, so they have to use tricks to display 16 million colors.
Lousy viewing angles.
Poor contrast ratio.
Lower brightness per area compared to other panel technologies.
The low response time is usually overdriven.
Color reproduction is poor.

Some general info.

okay, first of all, do not buy a 20.1" monitor because the power of ur gfx card would be wasted. second, the LCD monitor u have now, ur samsung, is not a REAL PVA panel. it doesnt have true 16.7 million colors and is worse than all the TNs that are currently being used in 20" and bigger monitors. for ur gfx card, get a 24" monitor, or get a 20.1" and xchange ur card for a GTS. if ur getting a 24", no need to be worried as NONE of them use TN panels. the only size class that has only TN panels is 22".

Yeah, i know that my monitor isnt a true PVA panel. You told me that before in another topic. At the moment i really dont have money for 24" LCD. The prices here are crazy and 24" LCD costs 1400$. Too much for me.

20" is as high as i can go. And i really cant sell my GPU, because here in my country, there are little that would buy that kind of GPU.

I was prrety much thinking of getting Dell 2007. I think it has S-IPS panel, but the reaction time is what bothers me. Is that 16ms really enough?? Do you have any other thoughts which 20" would be good?
