Apple after 2 years of sitting on their hands over the mac pro made promises to give it a much needed overhaul. today the mac pro is up for pre-order and its an absolute joke. its a slap in the face of faithful professional desktop users. the specs of the 2012 mac pro and nearly the exacty same. they overclocked the xeon cpu by all of a fraction of a ghz and that was it. no USB 3.0, no thunderbolt, no SATA III, not even raising the memory speed to something faster.

this has started leaving a bad taste in alot of peoples mouthes, including apple employee's

and pc magazine was quick to get the drop on this little apple fail.

The Mac Pro isn't on the same refresh cycle as their consumer line up and Apple as myself having working in actual IT over the years are seeing more people opt for their laptops instead since they are offering great horse power that a workstation can offer in a small design. These Mac Pro's aren't the same workstation type machines that they once were and mainly just serve as a file server in machine room or a print server.

I don't how people find this hard to understand or freak out about unless they are new to the Apple universe because the Mac Pro's aren't on the same refresh cycle like they consumer line.

Once their vendor supplies have ran out for that configuration they will get a refresh.

Hmm, Mac Pro's have always cost too much for what you get. Could build a redonkulous PC for 2500 bucks.

I sure hope not, If anything a print server should be a virtual machine, it is not that intensive.

Mac are for old people who don't know a damn about computers or people who think that spending the most money possible = best experience.

Those specs are awful considering it's 2.5K. That's pure insanity.

You mean Apple released a "NEW" product with roughly the same specs as the model before with a bit more improvements and marketed it as "AWESOME NEW MAGICAL PRODUCT" ???

Nahhhhhhhhhhh..... :P

I'm sure the screen is pretty to look at. It has over twice the resolution as my current 15 inch laptop.

Exactly atleast in my part of the world. The thinking of an average person is that its apple so it must be the best. Some don't even know what specs mean and some don't even care enough to look at them. They think that its latest so it must be the best since its apple.

Exactly. My hat off to the marketing team at Apple and how they got this type of thinking into people... but really is sad to see those people go crazy over each new Apple product....to the extent of even waiting in line a whole morning just to buy it first.

We used an old Dell XPS tower at U of M to serve the entire campus on all 1,000 printers we had so really it doesn't matter haha. You use what you have laying around or sell it off.
